Dr. Scott Wolfe, MD

Dr. Wolfe did a stellar job on my thumb surgery, but I'm giving him 3 stars because he basically ignored my questions and issues with pain caused by my cast, which other patients had as well by the way, and dismissed anything I said and rushed off. It's a pity, because my other thumb now needs the same surgery, but I won't use him even though I think he's the best. It was actually a humilliating and traumatic experience. He doesn't respect his patients.

Competent surgeon. Not personable. Biggest complaint i that he only accepts very few insurances which speaks to his compassion...which is ZERO!

I had a right hand carpal tunnel surgery with Dr. Scott Wolfe and it was excellent. I don't have any pain or mark. It doesn't even look like I had the surgery. I went back to him this past year for a trigger finger and right away he knew how to take care of me.

Dr. Wolfe diagnosed a problem with my wrist that was misdiagnosed by another doctor. After a year of pain from an unnecessary surgery, Dr. Wolfe made the appropriate diagnosis, and corrected the (rather simple) problem completely and painlessly with a quick surgical procedure. Twenty years later, an entirely different issue (a benign nerve tumor) came up. I immediately made an appointment with Dr. Wolfe who made sure it was evaluated at the branch of HSS closer to home (not the norm for this difficult MRI) as I was recovering from a fractured knee and could not travel. When I went to a follow up appointment, another patient with a complex emergency arrived. I voluntarily left the office and told him a phone appointment with MRI results would suffice or I would reschedule. He called that night to say there were no concerns. If I were the patient with the complex emergency, I would hope for the same treatment. Dr. Wolfe has his priorities in the right place and is a kind man who is the… kind of doctor one can only hope for.

Dr Wolf was wonderful saw my daughter in a timely fashion got her to surgery within 48 hours. Great bedside manner as well

He teaches this stuff. An ace, the best. Repaired my torn distal bicep 2 months after tear. He's very skilled.

I was referred to Dr. Wolfe after seeing multiple other hand/wrist surgeons. I am an avid tennis player and yoga enthusiast. I had ganglion cyst surgery by another hand surgeon several years ago which left my right wrist/hand in constant pain. Dr. Wolfe did thorough research of my situation, he explained my diagnosis clearly and set-up treatment options. His office staff from setting the appointment to helping schedule x-rays and CT scans were amazing and extremely pleasant. I would say that Dr. Wolfe is simply the best and after seeing 4 other hand/wrist surgeons, I finally found 1 who I trust will help me.

Very busy doctor, but excellent in diagnosis.

Four months ago I fell and broke my wrist in two places. I was initially taken by ambulance to a Manhattan hospital where they set my arm from wrist to shoulder and referred me to an affiliated surgeon. After seeing this surgeon several times over the next two weeks, and suffering through wearing a contraption that made me miserable, I was informed that I needed surgery and that he "didn't do hands." This almost discouraged me from all doctors, until I miraculously was told about a Dr. Scott W. Wolfe, a wonderful doctor affiliated with the Hospital for Special Surgery. From the moment I entered his office to my last visit, I felt safe. It was decided immediate surgery was necessary. He and his staff were so unbelievably thoughtful and kind that never for a moment did I feel frightened. As a very claustrophobic person, I was assured that no tubes were going into my mouth during surgery, and that the moment I heard my name telling me to wake up I would. And I did. I was able… to leave the hospital that evening and sleep in my own bed. Since that day three months ago, each visit to Dr. Wolfe's office has been a comforting and reassuring moment. Today I am well again, and so appreciative of the care, the professionalism and the beautiful incision that is no longer even noticeable on my wrist. I cannot thank Dr. Wolfe enough for being a doctor who cares not only for a patient's broken bones but their mental health as well.
