Dr. Alexander Hu, DO

I am an expert skier and had a ski injury this season hurting my right knee, went in to see Dr. Hu (sports medicine doctor) at UCLA in Woodland Hills. Partially tore my left ACL about 7 seasons ago so have experienced knee trauma in the past. Dr. Hu checked my right knee telling me it was a minor injury, sprain that will heal. I asked for an MRI on 2 occasions to know for certain (because I am an advanced skier and my left knee ACL already has a partial tear so I want to know for sure what's going on). He denied the MRI request both times that I had asked telling me to come back in 6-8 weeks if my knee still hurt. I followed my instict and got a second opinion from a different sports medicine doctor (and paid out of pocket to see the second doctor) who inspected my knee and approved the MRI request. Turns out MRI shows that the right ACL is FULLY TORN. Imagine skiing ?? down a double diamond run and not knowing my right ACL is FULLY torn. Set up an appointment specifically with Dr. Hu… to go over the MRI imaging results and surprisingly, he did not attend the scheduled appointment nor take any accountability for both mis-diagnosing my fully torn ACL as well as denying my MRI request (on 2 occasions). Doctors make mistakes (after all we are all only human) but it's important that we take accountability for our actions which is why I felt the need to publish this review publicly. The lesson here, follow your instinct guys! No one will look out for YOU more than YOU!
