Dr. KAHN performed lower back surgery on me in 1993. Because of Dr. Kahn, I was able to enjoy my family and live a productive life, pain free. Thank you Dr. Kahn!

Poor manners and ethics

I heard great things from people I know in Cincinnati about Christ Hospital Spine Institute and Dr. Kahn. I moved to Venice, Fl. from Cinti. My Neurologist and Neurosurgeon in Venice stated my back was one of the worst they've seen. I flew to Cinti. for a 3rd opinion. I initially saw John Montgomery, PA-C. He examined me, scheduled test, reassured me back surgery was not necessary. Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Kahn. He reviewed all my test results and told me I did not need surgery. He recommended epidurals which as of today are working. Trip to Cincinnati and seeing Dr. Kahn, priceless! They are a great team!!

Dr Kahn tells you right up front he WILL not operate on you if your a smoker so the other review is false. He would never leave anyone out on the street, he is nothing but professional, caring and a great doctor. I have had 3 neck surgeries and I owe him everything. I was desperate when I ended up in his office and he gave me the first glimmer of hope. I had migraines everyday for 2 years. They were gone as soon as I opened my eyes in the recovery room. Seven years later my lower back is giving me trouble and you better believe he will be the doctor I trust with my care!!!! PS: Doug Montgomery is Dr. Kahn's PA and you will proabably have to see him for your first visit or follow up. Another person I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Dr Kahn was referred to me by another doctor. He never examined me himself and only looked at my X-rays and said that they were normal. He seems nice but why did he just have his medical assistant examine me? I am still in pain. He is also very hard of hearing and you have to shout for him to hear you. He needs to get a hearing aid. I really liked his medical assistant Dr Montgomery.

That last review was garbage. We were told at least ten times to quit smoking, all the pre op literature says to stop smoking, the doctor said they will test you before surgery. As for compassion for the "addiction" of smoking, in this situation that is besides the point. Any cursory internet search about smoking and ANY surgery, especially back or fusion, indicates a recovery and bone growth rate of 50% less. Dr kahn has done two fusion surgeries on my wife and they are very difficult, painful surgeries. His bedside manner is great. Maybe he was upset because he scheduled an OR for someone who turned out to be an idiot

My husband is a smoker, and went to see dr. Kahn & never was given an ultimatum to stop smoking as he (husband) was having a very hard time. He cut back drastically, and went in the morning his surgery was scheduled. They got him ready for pre op (two IVs, and two OxyContin) and we're just waiting on the doctor and anesthesiologist. The doctor then comes in, and cancels the surgery for nicotine being in his system after never having told him he had to quit, just to cut back! Therefore, we were left outside in a bad Cincinnati area (right off of vine street) with our bags from potential hospital state with my husband so doped up he could barely move! We live more than an hour away. His bedside manner was atrocious, and he was completely insensitive to the addiction of smoking after having told him just to cut back and give it his best shot, and he was absolutely horrible about it. Neither one of us was happy about having my husband so doped & we were left sitting in such a bad area.… Bottom line-regardless of what he tells you if you're a smoker, unless you can succeed and quit, find a different doctor that will work with you. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, and what he did to my husband by giving medication like that & then canceling wasn't right.
