Dr. Alireza Stephen Malekzadeh, MD

I am writing to strongly advise against using Dr. Malekzadeh. In late 2023, I suffered a fall and was informed in the ER that I needed surgery on my radius bone. The ER at Fairfax INOVA recommended Dr. M. He seemed confident and said that surgery was necessary, so I had it on January 2, 2024. My recovery from surgery was very painful, and my PT was not progressing well. I struggled to regain movement in my arm and hand. At my one-month post-op, Dr. M. did an X-ray, criticized me for not exercising enough, and stated that if my condition didn’t improve within two weeks, it never would. I started pushing myself even harder in PT, enduring aggressive sessions that left me in tears. Two weeks later, another doctor in the same office informed me that the implant Dr. M. placed was too large, requiring revision surgery. Despite several attempts, I never heard back from Dr. M. After consulting several other surgeons, I had a revision surgery in March with another surgeon and am finally doing… better.

From my first contact, Dr. Malekzadeh and all of the staff has shown professionalism and caring. My 2 surgeries at INOVA were performed with the superior talent of Dr. Malekzadeh and his OR and office staff. Pain was always a primary concern and dealt with immediately. Referral for PT was timely and to knowledgeable therapists. I highly recommend Dr Malekzadeh and to all in need of orthopedic care. His professionalism and demeanor make him ideal for handling traumatic circumstances. I cannot imagine there is a more qualified or caring orthopedic surgeon out there! Thanks to all.

Dr. Malekzedah was great. The only problem was that I sometimes had to see a resident who had to ask Dr. Malekzedah for answers to my questions. Even with that, if the need arose, I would go back to Dr. Malekzedah

Dr. Malekzadeh is a great doctor, however the office is horrible, no one ever answers the phone or returns phone calls after leaving many messages. Seems like they have no idea who is doing what.

About two years ago my husband at 40yrs old had a head on collusion with a tractor trailer, they airlifted him to Inova hospital (GREAT HOSPITAL) in the trauma icu room for a month. His entire left side was broken, fractured, and or smashed! That is when God sent us Dr Malekzadeh, he preformed a nine hour surgery on his crushed hip and thigh, not to mention the rods in is lower leg and his arm. About a year later the bone had finally stopped growing (do to the brain injury, lots of bone overgrowth) and Dr Malekzadeh went back in a scraped the extra bone that was at this time pinching a major nerve, after a 5 hour surgery and lots of pt my husband can now walk!! Dr Malekzadeh and his office have nicknamed my husband "the office lego" I had a lot of questions and concerns and with my husbands TBI I really relied on Dr Malekzadeh, his office staff, and the Inova hospital staff, and God used them to turned a traumatic event into an event that we as a family could get through! Although… I can never repay them for giving six teenagers their dad back (& me, my husband back) I do thank God every nite for always guiding them in their works! Dr. Malekzadeh is not only smart but a person who cares, He explains all options and lets the decision ultimately be yours, He doesn't pressure you. He is a really cool person that happens to be an orthopedic surgeon,

I had a very severe broken heel bone. Dr. Malekzadeh operated on my heel and the results were excellent. I particularly appreciated that he was clear up front on how long the recovery process would be and that all his estimates were accurate. I would not hesitate to recommend him to someone with a foot problem.

I had an injury that had been missed by every other doctor I saw. I got Dr. Malekzadeh by the luck of the draw when I was taken to the ER at Fairfax Hospital because I couldn't walk and was in intractable pain.He told me very clearly what the risks were to the surgery I needed, and I said, "Let's do it tomorrow." H, being a cautious surgeon, an excellent attribute, said he wanted to discuss it with his partners. A week later, a date was set, and the surgery took place right on time.Today, I can walk normally, with no pain. He did a splendid job, and I am so grateful to him. His follow-up with me was exemplary - the office visits were pleasant and informative. I had questions, he had answered, and they were all conducted in an atmosphere of good humor and affection. Dr. Malekzedah made me feel like I was the only patient he had at that moment, a remarkable gift.I can not say enough good about him. I hope I never need an orthopedic surgeon again, but if I do, he's my man. He should… be everyone's orthopedic surgeon when they're in need.I'm a lawyer, and I make noise when things go wrong. With Dr. Malekzedah, all I can do is smile and applaud. He was perfect, competent and caring, and I was very, very lucky.
