Dr. Alison Kay Cooper

If I could give zero stars I would. I went to Dr. Cooper as a woman experiencing the typical symptoms of menopause. She prescribed a custom, bio-identical hormone therapy that worked great for some symptoms but not at all for others. Over the course of a couple years, I saw either Dr. Cooper or her NP (Fiore) during my annual exam at which time they renewed my hormone prescriptions. Every time I visited I would ask if they should do blood work to check my hormone levels (like my previous doctor did), to which they replied it wasn’t necessary. Fast forward three years, I’m bleeding and in pain. I practically had to force Dr. Cooper to order blood work to check my hormone levels, one of which ended up being off the charts high. After having various tests to rule out a big cancer scare, Dr. Cooper simply shrugged and said I could start taking the hormones again if I wanted. I had to remind her that I had recent blood work done (at her office) and that my levels were out of whack. What’s… worse, somehow she didn’t even realize that it was her office who had been prescribing the hormone therapy! She offered no advise on how to get my hormones back down to normal - she actually said “there is no normal”. She then went on a strange rant about how “women’s life expectancy used to be around the age of mid-50’s…” which had absolutely nothing to do with my situation unless she was suggesting I should be grateful to be alive, I’m not quite sure. Her billing procedures are also a problem. During my last visit her office staff insisted I pay a deductible before seeing Dr. Cooper. I tried to explain that I had already met my deductible, but they were adamant I owed this money so I paid it just to keep the peace and get through my visit. Turns out I was right, I didn’t owe the deductible, and now I have the pleasure of trying to get a refund from this wonderful place of business. In addition to all of the above, the office wait time is never less than an hour, and Dr. Cooper is always overbooked and very rushed. Needless to say I am in the process of finding a new doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Cooper by my family doctor. My husband & I had a major vacation planned that we saved for years to go on. Two weeks away, I had some gynecological challenges and Dr. Cooper squeezed me into her busy schedule. She was kind, caring, and took her time helping me understand the problem & the resolution. (which turned out to be very simple). She is wonderful! I can't say enough good things about her and her assistant. She is my new OB/GYN, and I would recommend her to anyone.

I only have Dr. Cooper as a dr because she was the on call ObGyn when I went into the ER & had to have “emergency surgery”. I was informed this at 3am, she didn’t get into the hospital & do the surgery until 1030. Pre-op was the last I saw of her. Over my 3 days in the hospital she never once followed up. Then at first she refused to do my FMLA paperwork for work, said my PCP has to do it. Makes no sense since my PCP had nothing to do with treating me. So here I am sitting in the dr office to get this paperwork done (after my PCP talked them into doing it). My appointment was at 940. It’s now 11 & I still haven’t been seen. The front office staff are rude. An hour & a half waiting (so far)... seriously? After you couldn’t even be bothered to follow up with me in the hospital?

Dr. Cooper is great! She did an amazing job on my surgery and my recovery and healing time was very fast. She explained everything very thorough and ensured I understood. The staff was nice and my wait time was very minimal. Kudos to this office!

We saw Dr cooper 14 years ago and she said we will not be able to have any children. Well, we have a 13 yr old beautiful healthy daughter who was conceived naturally. She was rude and glad we didnt listen to her.

I was referred to dr. Cooper by my P.A. I went to see her to have blood work done, and she wouldn't do it. I was told I was fine, and having blood work wouldn't change anything. I left feeling completely discouraged. This was very specific blood testing my P.A. wanted done. Dr. Cooper spoke to me as if I were stupid and wouldn't understand any explanations. I will never go to this office again, and I will tell everyone I know not to go there.

Dr. Cooper was very courteous and kind. She is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Much less, she has a very sweet and caring aura. The office staff is very kind and they made scheduling easy for me with my demanding work schedule. The appointment was a breeze and the treatment was effective. Highly recommend Dr. Cooper!

Dr Cooper is a very gifted surgeon. She and her office staff are very nice. That said, my last post-surgical visit was surprisingly disappointing... I was given a questionnaire, and there was space for questions... During my visit, none of my questions were addressed. I tried to ask her vocally after my physical exam, first addressing my concern about my hormone replacement medication and risk factors, explaining that my primary care physician had also expressed concern. She looked through my file and noted that with this medication they usually require a release form. I reminded her that she prescribed it in the hospital and that we hadn't discussed it. She then told me that she would get the form... She left the office and sent someone else in with the release form. I thought that she would return... I was advised that I was done and free to go after signing the form. The form had a statement that I had read some article which was not provided. I asked for the article and was… told I could look it up at home... I signed the form after adding "not" to that statement. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist, and plan on discussing my concerns at that appointment.

My experience at A Womans Place was great. I have not been to a gynecologist in seven years because I am shy and uncomfortable about being overweight and did not like the thought of someone else seeing my body. I have to say it was nice to go to an all woman office where the office was friendly and put me at ease when it was time to undress. Dr Cooper was thorough and answered all my questions regarding my hormonal issues. I happy to say I finally found an office I am comfortable with.

What a great doctor who has a great bedside manner. I'm so so glad that I picked her to do my surgery!
