Dr. Allie Shapiro, MD

Dr. Shapiro is under practiced and under educated, and it shows in her painfully obvious insecurities; never making eye contact, using sarcastic jabs, forever afraid of showing emotion. I told this "doctor" I had a re-occurring psychological issue and she said that "it sounds like its just in your head" and dismissed me. She behaves like a brooding, mopey, teenager in every session; rolling her eyes, scoffing, etc. Then she ends each session with a money grab trying to get as much money from you as possible. Save yourself the time and money on this greedy excuse of a practice.

Dr. Shapiro is not fit to work with adults. She lacks empathy on the most basic level. Speaking with a robot would have been more heartwarming and less stressful. I set up and appointment through Community Psychiatry with Dr. Shaywitz and waited for two months, which is standard waiting time in LA. Three days before the date, the office cancelled, and set up another appointment for a date two months later - this time with Dr. Shapiro. A couple of days before the appointment, they cancelled again, so naturally I made a fuss about it and surprisingly, they found me an appointment with her a week later. Extremely disorganized office. When I came in, I paid my co-pay in cash, and was greeted by a sour doctor (Shapiro) who apparently did not want to see me. Her clinic is full of toys and is set up for children, which makes sense because she does not seem to like working with adults at all. Her antagonism created so much stress, that at one point I couldn't take it anymore, so I just… got up and left, forgetting to pick up the receipt on the way out. I don't expect much from psychiatrists, especially not in LA, but come on - why so much negativity? If you don't like working with adults, then tell the manager, don't take it out on your patients. A few months later, I get a bill from their office stating I never paid my co-pay, which eventually made me call my insurance company (Anthem) and complain about this whole ordeal. By far, the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor.

She is very rude and unprofessional, makes you feel horrible and that you are wasting her time. Doesnt take you seriously and frankly makes me cry after every visit 1/5 never will go again
