Dr. Amber Faith Lerma, MD

She saved my life more than once. Best psychiatrist out there.

While I did find that Dr. Lerma was quite warm and understanding during our session, I found two things to be grossly unhelpful during my time with her. First, she asked deeply probing and often unnecessary questions that were completely unrelated to the issue I was visiting her for. No psychiatrist I have visited in the past has felt that it was necessary for me to share deeply personal information about childhood trauma in order to appropriately diagnose me. As a result, I felt very uncomfortable throughout this process. Secondly, while I was exhibiting textbook harm OCD that other psychiatrists were able to very easily identify, Dr. Lerma seemed to carry a fundamental misunderstanding in regards to the difference between harm OCD and genuine desire to do harm. I do not recommend visiting her if you suspect that you have OCD.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lerma's for over 8 years since I was 16. She has always been comforting and accepting, and helped me explore alternative medication options as a teenager after I was unhappy with the medication I was placed on at the age of 13. She has a wealth of knowledge in the child medication subject area, and she listened to my evolving needs and psychological challenges, offering both therapeutic guidance as well as actionable steps in terms of my medication

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Lerma on and off for a while and gets a lot out of her time with her. We had taken a few months break. I've been going through chemo and misplaced the appt. time, not being able to get through to the office, I knew I would be receiving an appt. reminder call (that I have ALWAYS received) ~ All I got instead was a message saying the appt. was missed and we DESPERATELY NEED to have this appt.~ I have not found ANY other way to get through, except to write a review??? Has the reminder calls been done away with???

Gr. Lerma, has been a huge part of daily existence in the world. She is very smart and really cares . Allthough i have only known her for i year and I am on a long ruad to a better life, she surely has shown me the direction to go into. I love her

she is very compassionate and a resident with a solid future
