Never take a Friday surgery appointment, or you will be passed from resident to resident, getting different answers.My son had intense pain following surgery and wouldn't take the prescribed medicine. We spent a long weekend getting nowhere, passed around through the Loyola ER who were very unhelpful, and on Monday we were supposed to be able to get a prescription (only made Monday through Friday) that would help with his pain. We did not get called back promptly on Monday morning and the delays meant we were delayed in getting his medication. The otolaryngology department would leave a message on our machine to call back without saying who to talk to or what it was regarding, and then would not be able to tell us who called or why when we returned the call. We would have to leave a message and wait for a call back. It's an hour later and we've heard nothing.We are so frustrated that we are actually going to get a new ENT four days after my son's surgery. Dr. Hotaling is great IF… you can reach him.
