Dr. Andrew Peter Kant, MD

Dr. Kant founded KSF Orthopaedic Center, PA in 1976. He wanted to bring high quality orthopedic care to the residents of Northwest Houston and the Woodlands areas where he was raising his family. He has been in private practice in the same area for 35 years.

"I always wanted to be a physician, I chose orthopedics because we get to work with people of all ages from newborns to seniors. I get to treat the entire body, and sometimes the entire family. I get a chance to watch my patients grow up. It is always rewarding to treat a former patient's son or daughter."

Dr. Kant enjoys the fact that orthopedic patients generally get well.

"We can usually fix what's wrong," he says. "I cannot tell you the number of times a former patient comes up to me in a restaurant or grocery store and says they can walk without pain or they are able can play basketball with my daughter". It is very gratifying to know I have had a part in those kinds of results. Orthopedics …delivers a high level of satisfaction, and it's an ever changing field. 80% of the procedures I do today, weren't available when I left my training program. For example, when I came into practice, arthroscopy virtually didn't exist. I learned arthroscopic surgery by traveling to other areas of the country when it was just beginning in 1976. We were one of the first orthopedic groups in Houston to use arthroscopy.”

Dr. Kant specializes in treating spinal problems and injuries. "We've gone through huge changes in orthopedics in the last twenty years in treatment of the spine. We have better materials and better techniques. A lot of what I can offer patients today didn't exist when I finished training. It's really phenomenal and it continues to change."
