I would strongly advise against visiting Dr Rivera and the practice in general —not only because of the doctor’s lack of compassion, but because of a staff that refuses to take even the most basic steps to support patients. Our experience with this specialist was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I brought my six-year-old son to a 4:00 PM appointment, having gone out of my way to obtain a paper referral from our primary care physician—who does not participate in the specialist’s insurance portal. Prior to the visit, I also spoke with my insurance provider, who told me the referral could be manually entered if the office simply called a specific 800 number. At check-in, I provided the referral, explained the process, and clearly stated that I was willing to pay out-of-pocket if needed. Despite this, we were left waiting until 4:50 PM—only to be told the doctor had refused to see us. As it turns out, his shift ended at 5:00 PM, and rather than making a quick call to the insurer… or accepting my offer to proceed as self-pay, he chose to deny care. Only after I firmly pushed back, asked to speak with the doctor directly, and again confirmed I was prepared to pay in full, did he reluctantly agree to see us. This only happened because I insisted—after we were initially refused service. Once in the exam room, the doctor’s demeanor was cold, rushed, and disengaged. For a pediatric specialist, his bedside manner was shockingly indifferent. The visit felt transactional and detached—especially after the unnecessary hurdles we had to overcome just to be seen. To make matters worse, the front desk did not attempt to call the 800 number provided—despite this being the exact and straightforward instruction given by my insurance company. Their inability or unwillingness to assist reflects a total breakdown in professionalism and patient care.

Dr. Rivera takes his time to discuss your concerns and conditions. He runs the appropriate tests and explains the steps and processes of both the test and the corresponding test results. He explains in common terms the plan to remedy or improve your condition. Very polite and attentive to your concerns.

!st time patient. Excellent care from checking in through time with Dr. Rivera. Dr. Rivera explained my situation and eliminated the wax. Great bedside manners.
