Excellent surgeon. Did a great job diagnosing my hip arthritis and explaining surgical and non-surgical options. Support staff is also friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate.

Dr. Andrew Urquhart and his team gave excellent care for me during my recent Left hip replacement. From the very beginning to the end. I was nervous about it even though I had my right hip replaced 14 years ago. He explained every step of the way with me and made me feel very comfortable with my decision. His team was just as exceptional. They confirmed all of my feelings and made me feel important. And they all did it with a smile. They reached out to me the day after to check in on me as well. He and his team will be my choice if I ever need any ortho surgeries in the future.

I would give ZERO if I could. His treatment and behavior were unacceptable, uncaring, cold, indifferent, even MEAN. My husband was there to witness this or I doubt people would believe me. I saw Dr Urquhart after having a knee replacement and then a revision, and I then began having multiple episodes of hemorrhaging in the knee capsule. I went to see him for a second opinion as my doctors could not explain nor stop the very painful internal bleeding episodes. He spent 5 minutes with me, told me I should should get on an exercise bike because I am overweight (I could not walk without a walker nor ride an exercise bike). He then said I should have never had the surgeries as I was too young and that now I should just accept what I have. My husband and I sat there with our mouths dropped open in disbelief as he left the room, then I burst into tears. His assistant seemed embarrassed by his behavior but admitted he "can be like that". I have been to multiple specialist doctors since, and… my situation IS very complex and unusual-- but at Cleveland Clinic I was treated with respect and care, and I DID get a great deal of help for my condition. I do not rate U of M medical as I know so many who have received great care there, but NOT this doctor.

Lingering pain and range of motion limitations long after hip replacement. Doctor has arrogant and dismissive attitude. It is likely that a resident did most of the surgery which might account for differences in patient outcomes.

Dr. Urquhart replaced my knee and failed to treat me appropriately after I developed a post op infection. The infectious diseases physician fortunately continued to treat me. When it became obvious how serious the infection was and he could no longer denie it he recommend an amputation. Fortunately I found a world class surgeon at The Rubins Institute For Advanced Orthopedic Surgery in Baltimore Maryland and she saved my leg. I think of Dr. Urquhart often and wonder why he was so negligent in my case and all I can come up with is he wanted me to leave his practice to avoid an infection in his statistics. No I would never recommend Dr. Urquhart.

He did my partial knee replacement about 5 years ago. I could walk well a week after surgery and my knee has been wonderful, (dare I even say normal) ever since. He will not mollycoddle you....he does remarkable work to make you better and expects you to do your best also.

Dr U is a man of few words, but what he says is very important. I am recovering from left hip joint replacement (12/10/14) Had right done 9/2008. I stayed awake during the operation as part of a new approach and learned a lot!

Dr. Urquhart just finished replacing my left hip joint. He did my right six years ago and I simply would not go to anyone else. He is no nonsense with the highest skills. I like his sense of humor. This procedure is tough to perform and undergo so you want the best. And that is this Dr.
