Dr. Andrew Welch, MD

Dr. Welch is an Excellent Communicator and Considerate man with experience. Staff around him were happy to be part of the surgical crew. Anesthesiologist Was also helpful and reassuring. The recovery from surgery staff was professional and also kind and considerate. All of the Desert Springs Staff that I talked with expressed great respect for the Surgeon. I am Greatful and Thankful. Dr. Welch was not willing to answer questions and said google the procedure he was to perform. That is totally unacceptable for a surgeon to not explain a procedure that is suppose to take place. It is a red flag when a doctor is unwilling or unable to answer questions!

I have Osteoporosis and I'm only 38 years old, a former gymnast and ballerina, but have shattered my ankle, femur, and wrist. A surgeon that operated on my ankle didn't correctly repair the ankle using internal hardware, plates, pins, and screws. I was going to have another local Dr. operate and remove the old hardware as screws etc. we're becoming loosened and causing severe pain. That Dr. and his practice were so unprofessional and disorganized that working with his staff and allowing him to operate was unacceptable. Dr Welch had been, and still was being referred to me by many people. I knew Dr. Welch was the only one who I would allow to operate on my shattered ankle.

In 1979 I was admitted to Sunrise medical center with a severed extensor tendon on my left hand (top digit of the thumb). This injury was weird because the damage was done by a single highly precise puncture of a shard of glass. Dr Welch was able to locate the severd tendon, and re attach it to the thumb. His post surgury care was second to none. He visited me and gve very good advise about caring for the wounds afer the surgery. He was a top knotch surgeon (and very young at the time). I have an injured knee at this time and wish he was here in Nashville. Thanks Dr Welch I will never forget you,

Years ago, I fell and according to Dr. Welch I crushed my right elbow. He said I would have to have a replacement. He brought a stainless steel prosthetic elbow into his office to show my family and me. After the surgery he came out and told my family that the replacement went well and I shouldn't develop arthritis in that arm. I now can't straighten the arm and it stays swollen and hurts all the time. I went to another orthopedic doctor who made an x-ray and said the elbow is a mass of arthritic bone and there is NO prosthetic elbow. I am frustrated and disappointed with Dr. Welch.

When a doctor says the knee replacement surgery, If not agressive in asking more, he would go into details. He either booked heavy but his concerns for our questions seems not importants and just walks away. Besides that I was hoping more of clients would comments on his work, if you had problems with the surgery and the sucess of it.

After having a doctor basically tell me the pain in my knee was all my imagination, Dr. Welch really listened to me and it took him 2 seconds with an MRI to see that I had a bone fragment sawing into the ligaments of me knee. He was patient but also quick to take action. Because of Dr. Welch and his staff my knee injury went from a nightmare to bad dream.

Dr. Welch just doesn't seem to care about anything but his golf game. He seems to rely on the mri reports than actually looking at the mri itself....at least that was my impression. And I definetely was not impressed!

Dr. Welch does not talk to you about your injury. He simply treats. He has no humor or compassion. It's as if you are a charity case that he got stuck with. His office staff is the only saving grace with his practice.
