Dr. Angela Marie Davis, PhD

I did DBT with therapy many years ago, and to this day I still feel hurt by her. She gave me her number to call if I was in crisis, and when I did she humiliated me for calling her and charged me. She has a judgmental, harsh presence and is invalidating. She completely turned me off to DBT until I recently found a group therapy with a warm, validating therapist. Keep looking. I wouldn’t recommend Angela to anyone.

My experience was that I asked to schedule another appt, but was never provided with a date/time or confirmation of any kind, and then got charged for a no-show because I did not come to an appt I had no idea was scheduled. Had I known, I would have cancelled with plenty of lead time; however, I was not aware of an appt being scheduled until the day of, when I received an email. To make this even harder to swallow, my first appt was pushed a week via a last-minute email from Angela.

Dr. Davis treated me in a way that caused me to become massively depressed. The most effective part of my therapy with her was when I ended it, and began the long process of healing from the consequences of my relationship with her.

My experience with Dr. Davis was truly terrible. I STRONGLY recommend against her.

Iâ??ve been a patient for over two years, and it would not be an overstatement to say she saved my life. When I first came to her, I was suffering from debilitating depression, anxiety, OCD/BDD, and suicidal ideation. I could barely function and my life was hanging on by a fraction of a thread. She has been compassionate and effective, and Iâ??m deeply grateful that she has helped me move forward, heal, and be able to live my life again. That being said, there were times when I got very upset with her. Sometimes, especially before you get to know her, she can seem less empathetic than she really is. Know thatâ??s just something about the way she talks sometimes rather than her core intention. Itâ??s very clear to me that she cares about her patients profoundly, and Iâ??m grateful that she doesnâ??t act like a stereotypical therapistâ??she has a sense of humor, sheâ??s irreverent, she doesnâ??t smirk and nod and ask you how your mother made you feel. She also wonâ??t baby you. Thatâ??s… good for progress, but it can also be painful. You have to be willing to trust the process and do your homework (literally). Sometimes getting better means being really uncomfortable first, and a lot of hard work may be required. Now that Iâ??ve gone through so much and am largely out the other side, I value my recovery above any and all discomfort I felt along the way. I give Dr. Davis huge credit thanks for helping me get there.

Angela is a compassionate, bright and empathetic therapist. She's well-educated and understands mental health conditions, but she's also warm, funny, and conversational. She listens well and validates my feelings, while also helping me learn practical tools for coping with anxiety and depression that I can apply regularly. The perfect balance of compassionate and practical. I'd highly recommend her to friends and family.

Dr. Davis was very knowledgeable, understanding and took the time to truly understand my condition. She provided me with a great plan and care options that have been beneficial in my every day life.
