Dr. Anita Pavlina Kovacic, MD

Dr. Kovacic is always perfect, she takes her time to answer questions and has a soft way of making you feel comfortable in a sometimes awkward an uncomfortable situation.

Dr. Sumen is a great doctor with exception of her office staff rude and unprofessional. Poor follow up of lab work. I have called for results three times in 4 weeks and I have not gotten a call back with results. This is out of the Manhattan Beach office.

I've only actually had one face-to-face encounter with Dr. Sumen-Kovacic, and I have nothing but positive things to say about her personally and professionally based on this one experience. She was prompt, friendly, appeared knowledgeable, followed up, etc. However, I have a significant issue with communicating with her and her office staff via telephone. I admit I am difficult to reach by phone myself, but contacting Dr. Kovacic has been almost impossible thus far. 1) She rotates between offices so is not at the same location on a daily basis. 2) The person who answers the phone during the day at the MB office must also be acting as receptionist so has to put my on hold every time I call, sometimes for significant lengths of time. I know they are busy but often waiting on hold for 15-20 mins without ever reaching the doctor is not acceptable. 3)If you try to call during non-office hours, you cannot leave a message for the doctor. 4) There is no email option, which would be a lot… more efficient for me and the doctor. Dr. Kovacic tried to call me several times; I tried to call her several times. Both of us have not been successful, and it's frustrating and not efficient. 5) I finally resorted to faxing a message to Dr. Kovacic, but apparently it was not delivered to her until I called again and went through the whole lengthly on-hold process several times. I really like Dr. Kovacic so far, but hope we can figure out a way to resolve the communication difficulty. The ratings I provided don't accurately reflect the core problem.

Not recommended.Appoints for my entire pregnancy were not kept except for two, due to her busy schedule. Seems that she was never available. No after-hour contact number or email for emergency - even at the 3rd trimester - We are just advised to go to emergency room. I am sure I am one of many many patients she have had, however, going through pregnancy and delivering a child very special moment for any women; I did not feel comfortable being under her care - ended up switching the OB at 8 months and I am so glad I did.

Over booked. Always a long wait to just see her for 2min or less. Too busy to talk to or ask any questions. Impossible to reach in case of emergency. Appointments are never kept - expect them to be changed 9 times out of 10, due to her schedule. If you are looking for an OB because you are expecting, run away!

I love Dr. Sumen herself, but her staff especially when I call her office is extremely rude and arrogant. I had a good mind of changing my doctor because of that staff.I was also very disappointed in Dr. Sumen for not visiting me even ones in the hospital (I was admitted when I was 14 weeks and then again 16 weeks pregnant for an reason not related to pregnancy)Not only did she not visit, she didnt even respond to the doctors who called her nor did she call me to check how I was doing.She either did not get the messages from that 'great' staff she has, or she just did not bother.Very Disappointing!!
