Dr. Anthony James Bufo, MD

Delt with this piece of Sh*t 17 years ago and promised Id follow him around. Horrible human being. Shouldn't be near people never mind kids.

Dr. Bufo and Janelle were very informational and excellent. We stayed in the nicu with one of our twins for almost 4 months. They would come check on our LO and also interact with her twin. We always knew in detail what was going on. He is a very upfront doctor which is what we wanted. We flew from Virginia to have Dr. Bufo connect our daughters esophagus and stomach. He and Janelle took excellent care of our LO. They stayed very confident in us as parents. We still to this day call him if we have questions.

He was very patient on what my daughter was telling him and was really awesome to her she had 4 surgery’s at one in one day

Dr. Bufo and his nurse Jonelle were fantastic. Our son underwent TE fistula repair at 22 hours old. Dr. Bufo took the time to explain the procedure to my husband and I and answered all of our questions. We felt confident in his ability to operate on our son and feel he saved his life. We would recommend Dr. Bufo to any of our friends and family.

So irritated with Avera Pediatric Surgery. Waited on hold for 45 minutes regarding son's follow up with Dr. Bufo. The receptionist acts all put-on and I finally said, "Is there a reason you're being so rude to me? I am parent of a child who is in your care and returning your call that I waited on hold for 45 minutes for." She suddenly gets nice and then says that his nurse would call me back. She calls at 4:56 yesterday than calls just now and chastises me for not answering her call and is so condescending in her tone. We got put with them for his appendicitis. I didn't ask to be their patient, and they have treated us like we are a nuisance the entire time. The nurse is always rushed and rude. We have waited and waited AND waited on them... in the office, in the hospital, on calls... I know they are a very busy office, but the quality of care was just so poor and the bedside manner so poor. I regret we didn't take him somewhere else. We just went where we were told.

Dr Bufo did wrong by my child and caused a 10 month hospitalization and multiple other surgeries to be needed. Our attorney learned that he would take malpractice policy (as required by hospital) and let it lapse. Actually laughed at attorney and said that he had nothing in his name. We did not bring suit as we would only be in debt and a judgement that can not be collected on could not help our child!

Dr. Bufo diagnosed my 2 year old daughter with a hernia that would need surgery. I was very dissappointed with is bedside manner, and I decided I would go elsewhere for the procedure as I did not feel comfortable with him. Much to my surprise, the second opinion I received was that it was not a hernia, did not need surgery and was nothing that I needed to be concerned with. I would advise all parents to obtain a second opinion in all cases.

When looking for an excellent surgeon for your childs emergency, don't look here. To "get the BRUSH OFF" is an understatment for this doctor's staff and himself. "Parents are an acessory" is this doctor's moto. Make it simple and get another surgeon.
