Dr. Anthony Joseph Culotta, MD

I am a registered nurse, have worked in the healthcare field for many years, including work in an optometry practice. I was very uncomfortable with my experience with Dr. Culotta. He lost his temper and yelled at his front desk personnel (not once, but three times) in the front of all the patients in the waiting room. He appeared very preoccupied during my brief exam, and kept getting confused as to which eye he was supposed to be testing. As I was leaving, I noticed Dr. Culotta looking absolutely frazzled: going up and down the hall, walking into the wrong exam room, going to the next room with the wrong chart. He looked as though he might "explode" any minute, red-faced, quick tempered. He might very well be a great retinal specialist, but his professionalism has a lot to be desired. Not a person that I care to trust with something as important as my vision.

Dr. Culotta is a wonderful doctor. He has taken care of my diabetic retinopathy for a couple of years now and I would not want to go to another retinal specialist. One of the other reviewers was upset because Dr. Culotta did not refract him (give him a prescription for glasses, contacts.) That is not what a retinal specialist does. See your Optotometrist for a thorough eye exam and refraction and let Dr. Culotta practice his specialty.

The office has booked four people for the same time slot. I waited more than an hour and a half before I was seen.

I went for an eye check up at Anaheim Hills Medical centre on Anaheim hills road, suite 240, and Dr Anthony Culotta attended me (I didn't have appointment with him, he was a substitute). At first it took a long time for him to attend me, I would understand if there was other patients but I was the only one at that time. Anyway, after playing with my eyes for 10 mins he told me it looks normal no signs of infection, presure is normal, basically he concluded that it looked normal. Then after a while he again checked my eyes I don't know why and this he was prescribing me anti-inflamatory and eye drops, I asked he why anti-inflamatory he didn't have an answer straight away he had to think, because he didnt expect me asking this question. Later he I asked to check my eye prescription and he told me it is not his speciality and told the tech to check that, to add to it the tech didnt know either. So in the end I paid for nothing and felt I was robbed. To cut the story short he didn't answer… my question like a normal doctor would and didn't know what he was speaking. He didn't know that I have a medical background. He was prescribing me medication for no obvious reasons. And didnt know how to check for my eye prescription, he was refering me to some other doctor. I strongly suggest you to look for an alternative doctor who can take care of you.
