Excellent takes time to reassure and explain things

He has the personality of a speed bump, poor listener, assumes he knows when he doesn't.

Dr. Hemmer is no-nonsense and keeps current on emerging research. Informs me of my choices.

Very easy to get appointments right away - next day appointments. Friendly staff and check-in and check-out. However. Dr. Hemmer listened impatiently for about 20 seconds to my problem that I described as new to me, severe and rapidly getting worse. I feel he picked his diagnosis too quickly, with too much confidence, and without asking enough questions. Then, he performed a quick, physical exam that I feel did not address the symptoms I described. The exam effectively ruled out "joint pain" which I had already clearly stated was not a symptom I was experiencing. He prescribed an over-the-counter remedy for the problem which, after an extensive google search that evening, yielded no evidence-based studies or references from any sort of scholarly journals or websites. I feel that I had been prescribed a sort of alternative-medicine placebo. In fact, the pharmacist laughed at first and then gave me a concerned look when she realized I was serious when I asked where to find the… "prescription". Perhaps my doctor's thinking was that "time" was the best remedy to my situation, and I could have more easily accepted such advice. However, the brief discussion with the doctor just didn't feel right. After I carefully restated my concerns, he mentioned that he'd add a couple basic lab tests "just in case". That should have been obvious based on my condition. For clarification, I was not seeking any sort of pain medication; I only was concerned about the underlying causative issue. His office then sent me to an offsite lab for the basic tests - it was already closed, wasting more of my time. In retrospect, I feel that it's fairly obvious why I was able to secure such a rapid appointment with this doctor. I did not choose him because I received a positive reference from someone; I chose him because I was able to get a quick appointment. I'll be selecting a new primary care physician. Hopefully, my problem resolves itself before I can get an appointment with another doctor. My last thought is, I caution others to think critically about this doctor's recommendations; ensure you feel comfortable that he listened carefully to your problem and symptoms, and that he chooses evidence-based solutions to your problem.

I do not recommend this doctor. He would not listen to my concerns...Last patient of the day and was ready to leave..Almost pushed me out the door....Never said to follow up...Ended up going to the Walk in Clinic and got better care after the medication he gave me didn't work....and I had ask him to give me something different....Office staff isn't much better...

Dr. Hemmer was rude and unprofessional. He made very cruel statements without even bothering to get the facts first. Any one who could be so hateful towards someone they had just met, is beyond me!
