Dr. Anthony Mario Martino, MD

Dr. Martino corrected my severe Chiari Malformation in 2015. He not only did a fantastic job surgically, with no issues in the 9 years since, but was fantastic at managing my extended post op care (which required a much longer stay than anticipated for reasons out of anyone's control). I have seen a number of neurologists and neurosurgeons, and Dr. Martino stands above the rest in the way with his bedside manner and willingness to take an individualistic approach to his patients. I am extremely grateful to him!

The surgery performed by dr martino on my daughter has left her disabled. She couldn’t talk walk or swallow or anything after the surgery to remove her brain tumor. He also told us he removed all of the tumor but we found out this was not true when we transferred care to another hospital. My daughter will have life long deficits because of Dr martino. We were not informed of the potential risk this could happen. He should NOT be allowed to remove brain tumors from CHILDREN! we should’ve went to a pediatric neurosurgeon. I wish I could go back in time. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I was operated on in 1992 and after he butchered my back I had to learn to walk all over again. My disc was at L3-L4. He started the surgery at the crack of my bum and worked up to L3-L4, cutting all the muscles and leaving me barely able to walk for 24 weeks. He moved out of NH shortly after that and I just found him in 2020 in Alabama. My records were seen by my last back surgeon who stated that they don't go looking for the disc or open me up without knowing where the disc they are operating on is, exactly. That's when we knew Dr. Martino had screwed up so badly. I had children; 3, 8 and 10 years old, who had a mother who couldn't walk. Not a good experience at all. Still paying the price in pain and many back surgeries due to his error (8 back surgeries since my first one that he did)

So thankful that we found Dr Martino and that he was able to identify my husbands problem. Very caring and compassionate.

Had an auto accident in 2001, Dr. Martino performed L1-2-3 spinal fusion. At present I can do anything I want with few limits but do experience some chronic pain due to arthritis in that area (as he told me would happen). I have climbed mountains (literally) and remain in good health. I would like to contact him and thank him for such a good result.

I have been a patient for close to 3 years. He has great bedside manner and after having a couple surgeries with him, he listens when I tell him that something is not right.

Performed a "shunt revision" on daughter in 2008. Daughter is now a 45 year old infant, can't walk, no short-term memory, no hearing abilities and must wear diapers. Night after surgery he claimed to have called the hospital 4-5 times but guess he did not know she was on morphine for violent headaches which she had not had in years even though nurse on duty had been told by me, the mother, to inform him to come to hospital. He had told me he was going to replace her old style shunt valve with a "magnetic" valve--never mentioned her catheter would also be replaced. Had he done so I would have said no since the neurosurgeon who had placed the catheter in 1999 told me to never let anyone touch it. My daughter must have someone with her 24/7/365 since the brain damage he caused. I am trying to keep her at home with a lot of difficulty and expense. I understand he was located in Rome, Georgia, prior to Mobile and had to leave because of lawsuits. Could not find a lawyer to handle… suit against a neurosurgeon!

Dr. Martino is a wonderful guy and a great doctor no "God complex".

Amazing. He listened to us and my son, saw everything that he needed to see in his MRI's and when he realized he'd forgotten one he went back to look. Very nice and thorough. He actually seemed to CARE about my baby.
