Dr. Arif Ali, MD

I went to the doctor after my knee started cracking and grinding when I ran. We found doctor Arif Ali, MD using our insurance website. At the hospital, the nurse had an attitude because I didn’t have any pain. The doctor came in after the X-ray results and didn’t do even a proper check. He told me that I’m healthy and my X-rays were normal. He said he could request an MRI, but it would only be to prove his hypothesis that I didn’t have anything. I asked if I should continue running? He said: “yes live your life to the fullest”. After the appointment, I continued running every day, but the pain in my knee became unbearable. I had an MRI done and they found a meniscus tear grade lll, inflammation, extra fluid and small cysts! I got misdiagnosed and the doctor was so conceited and so vain, that he ended up making my knee worse. He only cares about making money by doing surgeries. We talked to the practice manager Amina, who would talk to the doctor and call us back but she never did.

I ruptured my quadricep tendon on a Thursday. I don't have a physician and have never seen Dr. Ali before. They were able to see me the very next day (Friday) and have an MRI completed on Friday. I was scheduled for surgery first thing Monday morning. I was so impressed with the easy access and quick scheduling for surgery. Everything went so smoothly. Dr. Ali is extremely friendly, professional, compassionate and understanding. I am so happy I had the fortune of finding him. I recommend anyone with an orthopedic issue to find this office and Dr. Ali.

He's doing my husbands second ankle surgery now and he's awesome. Drive over an hour to see him.

My primary physician from Advocate Medical Group recommended Dr. Arif Ali of Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists, Ltd.. Dr. Ali's conservative approach and process of elimination accurately diagnosed an arthritic condition requiring hip replacement surgery. He carefully described my options. Confident, at 67 years of age, I chose a double hip replacement. Both surgeries were completed 14 days apart at Lutheran General Hospital. Following Dr. Ali's recommendations I opted for at home care between operations, followed by rehabilitation at Glenview Terrace after the second. My outpatient therapy was completed at the Illinois Institute of Physical Therapy. This company is related to Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists, Ltd.. The communication between the staff and Dr. Ali was clear as I progressed. During my follow-up exams I have been grateful for the excellent care of Dr. Ali's assistant Cheryl, x-ray technician Michelle, and the entire office staff. In less than five months, I have… returned to physical activities and exercise which include walking, riding a stationary bike, and hand weights. My gradual return to the martial arts is still progressing. My recommendation of Dr. Ali is an outstanding YES!

Dr. Ali took his time to explain everything about my break, the surgery, the healing process, and what to expect along the way. I was so thankful for his patience. He is also an extremely skilled surgeon. My recovery is coming along smoothly due to his precision and talent.

Went to see him about range of motion issues with legs/feet. He spent all of two minutes looking at an xray, declared I had severe hip arthritis and needed a double hip replacement at some undetermined point in the future. Then said he had no more time for me and ushered me out the door. No followups offered/ planned. Since I actually don't have hip pain, I'm guessing he's somewhat off the mark, at least for the problem I was looking to have addressed. This was after he rescheduled the first appointment.

My biggest disappointment was the lack of patient focus. Information sharing on my knee surgery was more "big picture" and didn't include details that I thought would be important to know beforehand. For example, when I was in recovery, Dr. Ali told my husband that he has performed microfracture as part of the procedure. But he didn't let me know that was a possibility pre-surgery and was vague post-surgery on how that would impact recovery, if I should be doing anything differently, etc. Also, every follow-up seemed to extend the window for recovery. First it was a few months, then 4-6 months, then longer. I had my surgery several years ago and am still in daily pain. Lastly, good luck trying to get his scheduler to call you back! She was almost impossible to track down. She would leave a message and then disappear off the face of the earth when you tried to call back.

I recently had rotator cuff surgery and my recovery has been excellent. He is a very caring and excellent surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. I had very very minimal pain after surgery. He has taken time with myself and my husband before and after surgery. I have had several previous orthopedic surgeries in the past and this has been the best experience by far.
