Dr. Arnold Daniel Chung, MD

Dr. Chung did my right lower lobectomy last month and was fantastic from the initial consult to my final date of discharge. He patiently answered all of my questions, he visited my every single day before and after surgery, he didn't rush my healing process and was an advocate for my health and wellbeing. He's funny, conversational and has a great bedside manner and more than being a great surgeon, he's just a great all around guy. I cannot recommend Dr. Chung enough, he's the best.

Dr. Chung is absolutely one of a kind! It took weeks to find a surgeon willing to take the risk of performing the delicate surgery required to treat my condition. His honesty, breadth of knowledge and dedication for his patients is unmatched in his profession. When he first began treating me, he said he’s not the kind of surgeon who just books a procedure because he ‘can’, however enough time passed in which he felt that it was worth doing to fix what ailed me. I felt completely comfortable with the risks associated with my procedure because I knew I was in the best hands, and my recovery was an absolute breeze. He was very honest in stating that I may not have full symptom relief, but I’m happy to report that his minimally invasive methods have me feeling better than I have In years. His ongoing support post-op is absolutely unparalleled! While I’m delighted by the return of my health, i am actually sad that my time in Dr. Chung’s care will come to an end. His warmth and… personality are amazing, and his support team top notch!

Dr. Chung is a good and caring doctor but he sees what he wants to see. I was referred to him last year for lung cancer after a High Def Ct scan showed something on my right lung. A biopsy showed that it could not be determined if it was cancer or not. So I underwent a PET Scan. The PET Scan gave a false positive. When I went to Dr Chung he showed me the PET Scan results and suggested radiation Treatment, the Cyber Knife, or that he perform robotic surgery and remove not just a portion of the mass or the mass itself but the whole upper lobe of the lung. He did have some concerns as to the lymph nodes near the mass and the fact that they were lighting up in the pet scan. He did a biopsy of the lymph nodes and that came back negative. I had the surgery to remove the lobe a couple of weeks later. I have since been diagnosed with Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia. Which I was led to believe that can present itself as cancer only in rare occasions. We later found out that that is not so… unusual. There are articles on the PET Scan and how they can give false positives for cancer, and that it is known to do this. The only time a confirmed diagnosis of cancer is when it is seen under a microscope and additional testing which they could have done while I was on the table and if it came back as not cancer they could have have removed the mass or stitched me up and gone with the known and recommended treatment for COP.
