Dr. Arthur David Shiff

He may be the best doctor in the world, but you would never know it because he is a poor communicator and very dismissive

Dr. Shiffspent almost an hour with me during my first consultation. Prior to my visit, he had reviewed all of my medical records, spoken with another of my doctors, and was well prepared to answer all of my questions, all with a kind and caring persona. I would recommend him without reservation.

Dr. Shiff is respectful (he is in the room before you are!) and thorough. He takes time to make sure you understand everything and has answered all your questions. I highly recommend Dr. Shiff!

At the time of this appointment, I had already seen 4 doctors (at the Mayo Clinic) at that point and was unable to receive a lot of help during this stay. I was obviously disappointed that I was still in a place where Dr. Shiff was not willing to give me the help and care that he agreed I needed. I cried quite a bit (it happens when you’re in constant pain and you are hearing difficult concerns and annoyance from your doctor). He was practically making fun of the fact I was upset. He then called in his nurse (who was very kind by the way), and I had to explain again what was going on with my gastroparesis and how we would help it. We overall decided on doing it back home. My problem way that fact that he agreed I needed help-then proceeded to say that he wouldn’t help me. When I got upset, he smirked at me and my mom (who was also upset) in a very condescending way.

I'd been to 3 gastro-enterologist before I found Dr. Shiff. They all insisted on doing a colonoscopy (in spite of my previous colonoscopies which were normal) & they all ended up saying "There's nothing wrong. Eat more fiber and drink more water". Dr. Shiff listened & listened again. He ordered a test for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (even though I did not have the typical symptoms) and the results were positive & after he treated me I had no more issues. He's a life-saver!!!
