Dr. Arun Prasad, MD

I've been a patient with Dr Prasad for many years (~10) with advanced glaucoma. He routinely saw me 3+x/year. I was diagnosed with severe glaucoma prior to seeing him and was referred to him as the glaucoma specialist. Very recently, I noticed I was losing vision in one eye. I emailed him reporting such. His recommendation was to use artificial tears. When my regular appointment came up, it was discovered that my eye pressure was VERY high. He attempted to control with non-evasive medication and when that didn't work, he referred me to another doctor who performed emergency surgery. I had significant vision loss by then. After numerous visits to additional glaucoma specialists, it's been recommended that I undergo more invasive eye surgeries. In hind sight, the more invasive surgery should have been recommended to me earlier to prevent (or at least slow) the progress of vision loss that was imperceptibly occurring while under his care. Now I'm legally blind. His practice is… so tightly scheduled that he has little room to accommodate emergency cases. In my case, if he does not perform the type of surgery I needed, he should have referred me to a doctor that did. How do I know this? Only one eye experienced the spiked pressure, but both eyes have lost a lot of vision. Obviously, the eye with the spiked pressure has now loss even more vision. You never realize how much you depend on vision until the vision you have is lost. Of course, there is always the risk an earlier surgery might not go well, and vision loss is the result. However, statistically, the success rate is high. I would have more of my vision now. I rate Dr Prasad poor because I believe he should have been more proactive. I was lulled into complacency because I trusted him and nothing adverse happened for years until it was too late. I'm jumping through hoops now to preserve what little vision I have left.

For average 2 hour visit wait time is more than 1 hour.

Dr. Prasad and his staff are awesome! Would recommend to everyone who is searching for eye care. Had dry eyes for which past docs recommended eye drops, which helps for a minute. Dr. Prasad recommended plugging the tear duct and in a few minutes, it started to feel better. No more eye drops, headaches from straining and sensitivity to light. My past visits in other eye docs' office had long waits of over 20mins and took at least 2 hours, so having as many eye problems as I do, long wait time is a given. At Dr. Prasad's office, I waited about 15 mins and the visit was about 2 hours as well. The time is worth every minute. Thanks Dr. Prasad.

Had an eye allergy problem with puffy red circles around my eyes. Did a thorough examination and gave me an ointment to use. Did the trick. After a couple days, it was gone! Wonderful doctor and excellent experience.
