Dr. Asheesh Bedi, MD

Was referred to Dr. Bedi by another Ortho. All my paperwork was sent and received which indicated that I had 2 previous hip scopes for FAI w repaired labrum. Unfortunately my previous surgeon failed to address my pincer impingement. She only repaired cam and torn labrum. Sent to Dr. Bedi as I have deep hip sockets and I was told he was one of only 2 surgeons in Michigan with the skills to help me. Wish I had seen the other doc. When I got to my appointment after waiting 6 weeks (I was in A LOT of pain) I was not seen by Dr. Bedi. I was seen by a NP instead. After a very brief exam she declared I had CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Complex) and needed physical therapy. I had no idea what CRPS was until I looked it up. I immediately went to the head of a pain clinic who confirmed I did not have CRPS. I have a friend who was also sent to Dr. Bedi. She was also seen by a NP and given the diagnosis of CRPS. Also wrong. We both elected to have hip replacements instead of continuing with UofM and… hip preservation surgery. My guess is that Dr. Bedi is just too busy and the CRPS diagnosis is just a delay tactic. Just my opinion. But go elsewhere if you can.

I saw Dr. Bedi after I tore my ACL in a skiing accident. He was great, his PAs were great... and my knee is 100% after surgery. I have referred several others to him for a variety of injuries. Everyone has had excellent results. Highly recommend.

Dr. Bedi diagnosed a long term problem I was having with groin and lower back pain as a major mechanical issue with both hips (FAI). He performed surgery to correct. It has been drastically improved. I can still play hockey at 44 yrs old with a massive reduction in pain during and after any physical activity that was simply becoming untenable. I'm not sure why people are writing about having scheduling trouble. I would recommend calling U of M Medsport and trying getting an appt with one of his PA's. Margaret is fantastic and will consult with Dr. Bedi. I'm guessing he spends most of his time in the OR and doing follow-up's with recent surgery patients. I understand people are in pain and want it fixed ASAP. However, if there's a limit to the number of skilled surgeons, you might have to get in line and wait your turn. It's not optimal, just the world we live in. Also, the team at U of M Medsport is great. They consult with the PA's and surgeons to keep you on track… and avoid any setbacks after surgery.

Sent for a consultation by a very experienced ortho surgeon to Dr. Bedi. I was in severe pain. I had to wait 6 wks for appt. I was then seen by subordinate even though his office had all prior exams, x-rays, surg reports and consultations. I believe I was intentionally misdiagnosed by subordinate so that I could be put through more therapy/tests until Dr. Bedi actually had time to see me. I have extreme concern regarding communication in this office. Later when I was referred again to his office I was told by his staff that there was nothing more he could do for me. He then called my orthopedic surgeon and told him I threatened to sue him (which I did not) and that I had lied and he had been willing to see me. This occurred after he found out I proceeded with THR because he refused to see me. It is my belief he was trying to cover his office's error. He may be an excellent surgeon, but I believe he has serious ethical issues and may have too many patients and/or have a problem with… communications in their office.

This doctor is the best in the world.I travelled across the US seeing many different "hip specialists" all of whom said there was no hope for me. I did my research and came across Dr. Bedi who is one of the top hip researchers in the world - managed to see him and I'm now pain free. Thank you Dr. Bedi!

Excellent doctor. Had previously failed shoulder surgeries twice in the past with unstable shoulder. He revised and reconstructed my shoulder with bone grafts and I am stable and pain-free, back to all sports. More importantly, he is honest and only operates when it is the right thing. Recommend to anyone. Only criticism is that he is very busy and hard to get in with in the clinic. I waited 2 months. He even responds to emails and personally communicates which is great.

I am a surgeon and know the ins and outs of the business. This guy is very good and came highly recommended from all of the trainees at the University. He is very adept in the OR and equally personable. I had a great result and phenomenal recovery. He is among the busiest surgeons at U of M, and with good reason. I have and would recommend him for knees, hips, and shoulders to anyone.

He is awesome. Has cared for everyone in our family - our daughter's knee, son's shoulder with great outcomes back to sports. One of the best in Michigan with huge waiting lists for a good reason. One of the only surgeons who offers surgery only when needed. I could not agree with a single negative review - he spends way more time and explains things better than any surgeon we have every seen, and we have seen many!

He is fantastic. Listened to me and did a careful exam. I had an excellent result, and so did all of the patients in PT with me. I am an MD at the University and his reputation has quickly become the surgeon to see for shoulder, knee, and hip problems!

Dr. Bedi is excellent. He got me back to playing hockey and I am now pain free. One of the best reputations in Michigan as a great surgeon and person! Often responds by email to any questions. Very personable and incredibly accomplished.
