Dr. Ashish Manilal Mehta, MD

Dr. Mehta is truly outstanding! He performed two corrective surgeries for a lifelong condition I have had. He is genuine and professional in his manner. His training, skills, and experience as a surgeon are all exceptional! He explains treatment plans in detail and answers all questions clearly. After my surgeries, he kindly took the time to call me in the evening to check in on my recovery. Without question, I am grateful for his skilled treatment! You and your children are in very capable, skilled hands in Dr. Mehta's care! '

Dr. Mehta performed surgery on our two year old and completely improved his condition of strabismus. My son was born with really crooked eyes, and thanks to Dr. Mehta, his eyes have been straightened. Dr. Mehta is confident, patient and very thorough in his diagnosis. You can feel his empathy and lovingness towards children. I’m so glad God placed us in his path.

It’s amazing that after a slew of negative reviews they’re all suddenly glowing and positive and “self verified.” You’ve got to be kidding me. But then again, I’m not surprised. Do your homework, parents. He’s not the only guy in town. Patients you have other options- Dr. Shah is wonderful (in the Kaiser network) and extremely competent to boot.

My 10yr old daughter had to have surgery, and he was excellent. Every appointment he shows a lot of care towards his patients and parents. We are very happy to have Dr. Mehta caring for my daughter's vision. He is very kind, professional, and knowledgeable.

Dr. Mehta is great! He has taken care of both of my children for the past year and a half. They both have esotropia, and he has operated on my daughter at 10 and 16 months, and my son at almost age 4. He is courteous, professional, knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. He has gone above and beyond to make accommodations for us currently being out of state, and for taking the best care of our kids. I am sad that we moved because it will be hard to find as great of an opthalmologist as him!

I met Dr. Mehta when my daughter was 1 yr old. He immediately diagnosed her problem and assured me that he would take care of her. It was a tough day, when I learned my baby did infact suffer of strabismus. My daughter is now 8 and had corrective surgery 2 years ago. The surgery was a success. He has continued to adjust her eye therary and she is improving. He has always been proffessional and appropriate with my child. I moved from Orange county to Los Angeles and I drive to Yorba linda so that we may continue to see Dr. Mehta. I saw a post that said he gave a child "attitude". I have worked with Dr. Mehta for 7 years and he has NEVER given me or my child attitude, nor has he been rude in any way. What I can say is that he is not a babysitter or a family therapist. He expects parent to be parent and correct the child's poor behavior. We love Dr. Mehta.

The man should change departments. No patience with children. For some reason, my child was a bit upset during the exam but was not really that bad. I was hoping to get a little help from this doctor but instead he figured he had to give my child some "attitude" right away. Needless to say, it did not help and kinda made it worse. I thought it was just me but an earlier review for this doctor seems to confirm his bedside manner. For someone who is "passionate" about children's health as his profile implies, dealing with children is a totally different story. I wish we have another option in the OC area. Looks like I'm driving out of Orange County for my son's next appointment.

I came to Dr. Mehta a total of 4 times before he was able to diagnose me properly. He was sort of creepy, too. Like why don't you maybe stop commenting on my "beautiful eyelashes," and start telling me why I have this huge, red bump on my eyelid. First time I go, "oh that, yeah that's what we call a 'stye.' Take 2 - "So I figured out it's actually a chalazion...a bit more difficult to take care of." He wanted to actually cut my eyelid to get it out. HORRIBLE, angry man.

Dr. Mehta took no time to 'warm up' to my 2 year old son. Consequently, when he came at my child with an instrument, my child started to cry. He's TWO. Dr Mehta asked if 'he was always like this?" which I thought was really rude. Again, he's TWO.Then when my child resisted having his eye pried open he said, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way." Who talks like that to a 2 year old??Later, my child was then munching on cheerios while waiting for him to come back and he snapped "No more cheerios! No more cheerios!" I SAID NO MORE CHEERIOS!" at my hearing impaired 79 year old father that was giving my son a snack after waiting so long. I just don't understand why he works with children since they seem to irritate him so much. It's baffling.
