After suffering a serious injury to my lumbar vertebrae (L3 and L4) and severe sciatic nerve bruising in October 2025, I was in excruciating pain and could barely manage even minimal movement without the aid of a walker. Dr. Patel presents test results, spine and nerve structure facts (with models) in a clear, patient way, gives his recommendations then lets me decide between different courses of treatment. His surgery on my back was also very successful.

I was treated by Dr. Patel for spinal disc pain.I had previously been treated by a different spine surgeon who was recommending surgery to alleviate my pain. I decided to go to Dr. Patel for a second opinion. Dr Patel reviewed my case and advised me I did not need surgery and my symptoms could be best managed with pain injections not surgery. Dr Patel takes the time to explain complex situations and makes sure that you understand them and is similarly careful with explaining the options and possible outcomes. It gives you a sense of comfort in difficult situations. He continues to follow through with care and gives you the sense of how important your course of treatment is to him.

After months of lower back pain, I was referred to Dr. Ashvin Patel. From the moment I walked into his office, the staff was welcoming and professional. Dr. Patel diagnosed my issue and recommended a treatment plan. He explained the entire process, including what to expect and potential risks. Back in April, I woke up with excruciating neck pain and could barely move. Dr. Patel reviewed my MRI, explained I had a herniated disc at C6-C7, and recommended therapy first. After two months with no improvement, he advised surgery. His staff was incredibly helpful and courteous throughout the process. On July 2, I had a total disc replacement at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The moment I woke up, my pain was gone. Within a month, I was back to all normal activities, stronger than ever, with full use of my left arm and no numbness. I also want to recognize PA Scott Talbert, who was very helpful during my visits and assisted with surgery. Dr. Patel, PA Talbert, and the Kennedy-White team are amazing. Dr Patel is a wonderful surgeon. His compassionate demeanor is highly valued. He takes time to listen to you and you never feel rushed. I’ve had two separate back surgeries and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else. He is honest and upfront and always does his best to help you in any way.
