Dr. Averess Dean Rickerson, MD

I met Dr. Rickerson maybe two times in the few years I have been a patient there. Usually I am sent to her PA. He is nice and usually just goes by the blood tests. I came in hopes of reducing the amount of medication I was given. Instead, they have added more and my health seems to be declining more. I have been eating healthier, but nothing seems to help. I feel the Doctor and PA don't really take the time to understand our concerns, since I express the hopes of reducing my medications and have asked for ways to improve my health overall. I get the general advice I can read from any magazine, diet, exercise, etc. I feel either disconnected from them or not really cared for. But they are always nice and vanilla. Just seems very sterile there, if you know what I mean. Wait time is as expected usually, occasionally I get stuck waiting a long time. Usually its about 15 minutes after check-in and then another 10-20 minutes after seeing the nurse for vitals. Staff is always… friendly and pretty quick getting things done. I have been to other offices where the Doctor is great but the staff is horrible. This is a pretty good balance, since the Doctor is pretty good and staff is great. Ideally it would be great doctor, great staff. But it seems hard to find the two in one place...

My wait time in waiting room was only 15 minutes. 12 minute wait time after nurse took my weight, vitals and typed in any new issues I had. Dr. Rickerson is genuinely concerned with my health and my commitment to lower my cholesterol. She treats me like family, even though there is no relation.

Very cold, In the sense of not in touch with the patient. Very condescending and patronizing. And when Doctors exhibit behavior like that, they make patients like me write comments like this.

Physicals are scheduled at a minimum of 6 weeks out. I arrived 30 minutes early, just in case I needed to complete any additional paper work. My appointment was at 2:45pm at 3:40pm I was informed by the last patient that was called back that I will not be seen because the Doctor left. The staff did not come out to inform me, I had request the information from them. I don't did receive an apology or an explanation, simply a "that's the way it is attitude." I will find another doctor that respects my time.

Waited 3 hours for my first appointment (it was at 10 am and I saw her at 1 pm) and was told by other patients in the waiting room that long waits are normal. When I finally saw her I told her I wanted to talk about 4 things and was told "Patients mistakenly think they will be able to cover multiple issues in one visit." She then told me to "pick one thing" because she only discusses one issue per visit. Told her I needed a referral for a colonscopy (which her staff took care of while I was waiting) and had to beg her to look at a swollen node on my neck. She said she didn't think anything was wrong, it was probably a blocked salivary gland and to "suck on a lemon drop." The gastroenterologist I was referred to ordered a sonogram (not even his problem) for my neck and a CT of my stomach when I told her about my visit to Dr. Rickerson. I just found out both tests were suspicious and I need to see a cancer doctor for biopsies. I am pretty sure you can't cure cancer with lemon drops and… am even more furious at her "diagnosis." She was rude, dismissive, and in a hurry to move on, despite the long time I had to wait for her. She blamed the wait on her staff. There are signs in the waiting room warning that you have to cancel appointments 24 hours in advance (or you will pay a fee) and fees for all kinds of things. This office seems totally set up for the benefit of the doctor and not at all for the patient. From my experience, I would not recommend her at all and am selecting a new primary care doctor. However, if you are willing to make multiple appointments, diagnose yourself in terms of what is the most serious "one thing" you should pick for each visit, and wait long times for each appointment, then she may be the doctor for you. Her staff has been helpful in getting my referrals to the gastroenterologist, the lab, and the oncologist. I did these things by phone. But her staff does not compensate for the inexcusable wait times (she blamed my long wait on her staff, which seemed unfair - who's the boss?) and a doctor with a terrible bedside manner.

Huge on over-medicating. Does not spend any time helping me figure out why something is happening; just wants to throw yet another prescription at me. Also, limits my visits to 15 minutes ONLY even if I have questions. If I try to ask a question and we've hit 15 minutes, she tells me that I have to schedule another appointment in order to have the question answered. She never believes me--tells me that any side effects or STROKE-LIKE symptoms I am experiencing are "all in your head". She has absolutely no idea what meds are safe for those of us falling the in the elderly category and pays no heed to the "use caution when administering to the elderly" guidelines. I believe this woman put my life in jeopardy by ignoring my complaints--complaints that eventually led to a stay in the hospital with a visit from the neurologist telling me I had a TIA. Needless to say, I fired her and will also be looking to file a formal complaint.

Sweet person, but very forgetful and shows that she is very overwhelmed with her work/practice. She has young girls who work in her clinic (daughters of her employees) who drop the ball often on appts & such. The Dr often asks you why you are there to see her (even though you have told her twice,sometimes more). She forgets to call you and let you know about your lab results or criitical test results. You have to leave numerous messages with her answering service, to which you never get returned calls (you have to keep calling often), the list goes on and on. She misdiagnosed me and wrote me a script for an antibiotic. I went to another Dr and he told me what I had and said that an antibiotic would have never helped my condition and wondered why Dr Rickerson even gave it to me. Her office overbooks patients many times.

she is interested in move em move em out. cause the moore she sees the more she is paid. ans any thing other than you pass gas and it burns you Will go to someone else she will refer you to her friends who I firmly believe are giving her kickbacks. and dont even mention more than one thing when you are in her office and get your precious 15 minutes if that. you will be told to make another appointment. she is only capable of addressing one item at a time andusually she will ask you what is wrong and what do you want her to do for you what perscription do you think you need. and several times I have been called and given another patients test results. so I am sure oher patients have gotten my results.

This doctor has no interest in her patients. She is simply a tool for drugs. She has no interest in knowing patients as people. Write a script, move on. Not for me. NO CARING OR BEDSIDE MANNER WHATSOEVER
