Dr. Bahaeddin Shabaneh

I am sharing my experience to help others make informed decisions regarding their care. I was evaluated by Bahaeddin A. Shabaneh, MD during a recent hospitalization for significant cardiac symptoms, including a sustained elevated heart rate. During that hospitalization, I was diagnosed with POTS and SVT. However, I have ongoing concerns about both the diagnosis and the quality and completeness of the evaluation I received at that time. My interaction with Dr. Shabaneh was limited and lacked clear, thorough communication. I was not provided with a detailed explanation of my condition, the reasoning behind the diagnosis, or the full scope of what was ruled out. When I asked questions, I did not feel that they were fully addressed, which left me uncertain about my diagnosis and next steps. At one point, when I was seeking clarification about my condition, I was advised to look it up on ChatGPT rather than being provided with a direct medical explanation. As a patient navigating a… potential cardiac diagnosis, I found this response concerning and not aligned with the level of guidance I expected from a specialist. Additionally, I expressed specific concerns about the medication prescribed (midodrine), particularly given that I had not previously experienced issues with low blood pressure. Despite raising these concerns, I did not feel they were meaningfully considered or discussed. Since discharge, I have experienced episodes of significantly elevated blood pressure along with ongoing symptoms, which has further contributed to my concerns about the treatment plan. Given the seriousness of cardiac conditions, it is critical for patients to receive clear communication, thoughtful evaluation, and collaborative decision-making regarding diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately, that was not my experience in this case. While I respect the demands placed on physicians, I cannot recommend Dr. Shabaneh based on my experience.
