Dr. Barbara L Merrill, DO

Circling back after 20 years to finally leave a review. I had a TIA at 26 years old and was dismissed by her. I had signs of autoimmune disease that were dismissed. I was gaslit and invalidated. Fast forward to present, I have a debilitating autoimmune disease thst could have been identified and treated if I wasn’t told I was “too young” to have those symptoms. She never listened, never believed me or cared. Bad apple.

Worst of the worst. Over prescribed medication and then abandoned her patients as soon as she was under a microscope for being such a deadly doctor. Literally completely the most unethical doctor I've ever seen.

I was Dr Merril's pt for 5yrs, due to chronic Lower back pain she never touched my body 1 time, never did a xray or MRI, she fed me opiods for 5yrs, which was very difficult to cold turkey off of opiods. She violated HIPPA so many times, telling me & gossiping about my mother's conditions (who was also Dr. Merrill's pt). 6 months later I had a new Dr, who finally did an MRI, herniated disk, and spinal stenosis was so bad, I was referred to msu spine & ortho & received surgery on my back. At times I had to wait an hour in the room, while I could hear her talking about her own life to the pt in the next room. I hope this never happens to anyone else.

I've lost track of how many years I've been seeing Barbara Merrill, D.O. but can't say enough good about her. Never have I had a physician who takes so much time to listen, comment, and educate me about health matters. Another noteworthy item is that office staff are consistently friendly and helpful. I also like that I can get mammograms in the same location.

She is extremely rude and talks more about other patients that have your illness rather than focusing on you. Will not even look you in the eye when performing your interview. I am a student nurse and she basically berated the nursing profession to my face by saying most nurses do not deserve to have their license and should not have gotten into nursing school. Seems like I could say the same for some physicians. She is not my primary physician. I have been seeing another physician at the practice she is at since I was in middle school and the only reason I did not see him is because he was deployed overseas for his military work. I will never go back to Dr. Merrill.

I was a pacient of hers for years. Her main problem is she does not listen to her pacients and actually try to correct the problem. I was on 5 different perscriptions at 1 time and was in bad shape. Now I have a great doctor who properly diagnosed me and Im down to 1. She cares more about her EGO than our health.

Dr. Merrill was worth the wait. She spent a great deal of time with me. Listened to all my questions & gave very good detailed answers.

Dr. Merrill is the best of the best.

This Doctor is responsible for my Mother's death. She prescribed her so much oxycontin and oxycodone that her kidneys shut down. She was admitted into the hospital and treated. Yet Dr. Merrill continued to prescribe my Mother pain medication at above the recommended dosage. She never rechecked her kidney function and less than one year later my Mother was gone. Dr. Merril never once touched my Mother. She talked mostly about her own family problems. On a Tuesday my Mother was seen by Dr. Merrill and on Friday she had passed. Within a very short time period she dropped all her pain patients. My Mother was a full blown addict in her 50's due to this Doctor. At 60 she was dead.

She has a whole new, friendlier staff. I have always liked her and now she has ALL great staff. Before, some of them were rather rude. Not all, but a couple of them.
