Dr. Barry Joel Cukor, MD

I met Dr. Cukor as an in-patient at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. I am only in my mid 40's, however, my medical charts, x-rays & CT Scans show illnesses more commonly seen in persons much more my senior, primarily bed bound and on forced oxygen 24/7, which, THANK GOD, I am not! Anyhow, Dr. Cukor's double-take at my physical presence as well as the birthdate on my file was somewhat amusing! We instantly got off to a friendly, good spirited Doctor/Patient relationship. I saw Dr. Cukor just about every single day of the almost two weeks I was there and there's not enough time or room to say all the good things he deserves to have written about him. He's extremely knowledgeable and professional as a Doctor, yet is able to put his patients at ease with his friendly and amusing personality. In this day and age of HMO's & "numbers crunching", I think many Doc's seem to forget the "human, sensitive" side of their profession, but not Dr. Cukor. He takes his time, he… listens and he cares. I very much miss being able to call on him, however, UNFORTUNATELY, my insurance only covers his services while an "in-patient" at the hospitals he's affiliated with. My Loss!! To sum it all up, he's a great Doc & a great human being. If your insurance covers his services, and you're in need of a GI Specialist, there's no doubt who you should call. You WILL NOT be sorry!!

I went to the ER with severe stomach pain and was dismissed with just a "diagnosis" of abdominal pain. I knew something wasn't right so I made an appointment with Dr. Cukor and come to find out there were multiple erosions in my stomach lining causing the pain. He prescribed some medication that helped alleviate the symptoms almost immediately. His bedside manner was phenomenal and he was extremely thorough! Would definitely recommend!

His quick honesty and humor helped ease my situation. I was in the ER then hospital for a week. Yes, it took some time with certain procedures but it was well worth the time for thoroughness.
