Dr. Barry Schlafstein, MD

My hysterectomy with Dr Schlafstein was a piece of cake thanks to his expertise and professionalism and awesome care .I have been a nurse for 40 years I can highly recommend him .He is the best surgeon for any female surgery in Savannah ! Thank You Dr Schlafstein !

I have been a patient for several years. I recently had a total hysterectomy, by laparoscopy. I have been extremely satisfied with the entire procedure, both preparation, day of surgery and recovery. The support of the PA, the Scheduling Spec., office staff, and hospital professional staff has been most satisfying. The entire experience was amazing. At 75+ yrs., I realize that I am most fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Schlafstein.

Dr. Schlafstein is the BEST. He has great bedside manner. My husband was very impressed when he met him for the first time. Dr. Schlafstein is very informative and detailed when speaking to you about your procedures. He is VERY busy because he is very good and highly recommended. Emergencies do arise at any time of the day.

I have been in Doctor Barry's care for over 20 years; he is the Best! Knowledge, compassion, best care in office and surgery!

I had my third appointment today with Dr Barry. And again, I waited over an hour and a half. Ironically, I received three automatic calls reminding my of the time of my appointment. LOL When I mentioned my dissatisfaction to Dr Barry about the long wait, he said that emergencies arise and can't be helped. My appointment this morning was at 8:30 so I'm really not sure that an emergency arose that early. It is more likely that he overbooked as there were already four women in the office when I arrived. The meds he prescribed have helped my condition, but my time is just as important as his and I don't want it wasted sitting in a waiting room reading outdated magazines.

Dr Schlafstein thinks that "no news is good news" and does not send results of PAP test to the patient. You have no way of knowing if the specimen even got to the lab. An error in billing Medicare was made which showed that staff routinely checks off procedures that were not done. I changed doctors after three years of visits when I could not get lab reports.

I wish I had never let this Doctor do my surgery, do your homework ladies. I am in worse condition after surgery than before.

I didn't actually see Dr. Schlaftstein, just the Nurse Practitioner. I told her my symptoms and she did an ultrasound. After the ultrasound I had to wait for such a long time (1.5 hours) that I had to go and requested a phone appt to talk about results. I never received anything and after a few weeks I requested another appt and had to wait 1.5+ hours and had to reschedule again. When I finally got to see her she just said that this is not her area and I should see Dr. Schlafstein (several weeks passed). I finally get an appt with Dr. Schlafstein and come on time and again had to wait 1.5 h plus. I had to leave to pick up my kids and decided to not come back anymore. I requested medical records and went to Southcoast Health OBGYN, they treated me like a person!
