Dr. Basti Julian Thampoe, MD

He was assigned twice to my 96yo Grandmother after being admitted on two occasions. He was very vague in explaining what was wrong with her, and rude when she asked for further details about her condition. He got IN HER FACE, shook his finger at her and declared he wasn’t going to ‘lose his medical license because she didn’t understand’. She was concerned about the leaky valve in her heart, and he told her he figured she had ‘far more than one leak’! She FIRED him, he flashed his backside, and stormed out, mumbling about how stupid she was. Sadly, this all happened in front of a nurse-and all that was suggested was that she contact the patient liaison and file a complaint. On the second visit, he ‘fussed’ at her b/c she didn’t keep the catheter in place and said she simply ‘didn’t want to get better’. He was removed from her care again. I spoke to a case manager @MethodistWest and was told on both occasions that they would ‘look into the matters’. He could be a brilliant doctor, but… he is a wretched human. I wouldn’t take a rat to see him. We plan to file a complaint with the medical board.

He seems very competent, but has the bedside manner of barbwire. Very arrogant; told my wife I'd be a "burden."

I trust doctor Thampoe in all areas of medicine, he is thorough and patient and respected by other physicians and nurses.

Dr. B J Thampoe did not have my current information upon visit to my hosp rm. He had doc from hosp stay over a yr prior. Subsequent visits were aggressive and bullying. Result was aggravated Afib symptoms.

Horrible bedside manner. Rude and condescending. Would not recommend to anyone.

Dr. Thampoe was the doctor at Methodist West when I was there recently. He was professional and personable. He went out of his way to be helpful as a doctor, and as a friend. My family and I were all impressed and happy with his service to us.

Thampoe was condescending, said he worked 15 hours a day, and we needed to trust him (he was about to leave for Sri Lanka for 2 weeks the very next day). Was supposed to have done a referral consult for my husband to see a specialist, but never did. Scheduled a procedure without our consent that turned out to be a waste of time, as my husband still had pneumonia and couldn't have anesthesia without being intubated, so we declined. Also, the transport to that other hospital to do so resulted in my husband picking up more germs and is getting worse now. Avoid this doctor like the plague or you will end up with it!

Horrible bedside manner, condescendingly rude person. It's obvious he's become a slave to the hospital and is only driven to meet "test and procedure" quotas to drive up revenue. Dr. Thampoe threatened to terminate my care in the middle of a hospital stay for refusing extrenous blood tests. Basti also yelled at me and argued that he had been to medical school and was always correct. I would never recommend this quack.
