Dr. Behzad Aalaei, MD

Excellent doctor who has helped my chronic pain and taking time to listen to me. He does not make me feel like I am there just to get medication he takes time and examines all my pain areas after 17 surgeries. I give him five stars!t

One year ago I was suffering from pain down my arms and shoulders/neck from 3 RUPTURED cervical discs, to which Dr A treated until I just recently had all 3 replaced and caged. I have 4 severely herniated discs (L3,L4,L5 and S1) which I will sometime in the near future have surgery on as well. I'm only 52 and work in constructio...there is so much negative stigma, and I guess rightfully so, with this arm of medicine. I have to management this condition as best as I can until I do have the 2nd surgery to repair the lumbar injury. Dr. A TREATS ME WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY plus he's a very nice guy. Not sure exactly how I would be able to make a living without him....Rob

Dr A understands people in pain and treats them with respect. There may be abuse by people in pain but many doctors treat them as lepers and criminals, and try to punish them. Dr A's goal is to make a person comfortable and he is a blessing.

I have been a pain management patient on and off for 7 years. During my treatment, I have seen the same pain management specialist. After being off of medications for 6 months, intolerable chronic pain made me pick up the phone to make an appointment with my pain physician. Even though I was one of his original patients who followed all of the rules, I was informed that since I had not been seen for 6 months, he could no longer see me. He is not taking "new" patients. I found myself on the phone making countless number of phone calls to pain specialists finding an endless number of rude, clueless receptionists and many unreturned phone calls. If I was offered an appointment, they were 3 months out. I came across Dr. Aalaei's good reviews and decided to give him a call. I left a message and thought to myself that I wouldn't hear back. To my surprise, Dr. Aalaei called me back the next day. He had just moved his practice from Indiana to San Diego and didn't have support staff,… so he called me himself. I was shocked that he could see me 2 days later. Meeting Dr. Aalaei was a wonderful experience. He is very personable and puts you at ease. What really stood out for me was his compassion. He was incredibly compassionate and understanding about the many surgeries and diagnoses that caused my chronic pain. Unlike anything I have experienced in pain management, I felt absolutely no judgement from Dr. Aalaei, only compassion and support. I have felt hopeless for so long until I met Dr. Aalaei. He made sure I knew that he would be here for me as long as I need him. He not only took care of my immediate pain needs, we also made a treatment plan for long term management with injections no other physician has ever offered me. The day after I saw him, I received a call from his office asking me where I prefer to have my MRI, and the date of my injection. The most proficient office I have ever experienced along with the most wonderful compassionate physician, San Diego has gained a truly gifted pain management physician!!!

I was seeing many pain physicians. None of them diagnosed me correctly. Dr. A recognized my condition, and treated me accordingly.
