Dr. Ben Chung

While I understand that Dr. Chung returned from vacation on the 29th, what I don't understand is why he hasn't approved a refill that every department at Kaiser says only he can refill?

I've been seeing Dr. Chung for about a year now and he is an exemplary doctor. He is very resourceful, patient and kind. HE takes the time to help you understand what is happening to your body and breaks the problem down to the biological facts. If I don't understand something fully, he always provides additional sources and references for me to look at to get a better understanding. Thank you Dr. Chung, keep up the great work!

this office is never on time and I've even left my appointment because I've become so frustrated by their lack of respect for patients' time.

Dr Chung took care of me when I was seriously ill. He really cared about what happened to me and it showed. He listens and he never judges.

Excellent clinician. Great bedside manners. Thorough. (By the way, for the one star review: internal hemorrhoids and boils are very different and impossible to mix up by history or by exam --- I know, because I have had both! And Dr. C. is the only doctor who ever took time to explain to me in detail and made sure that I understand them. "Internal hemorrhoids don't hurt"... Also, a boil is by definition a skin infection with pus inside, so it doesn't make much sense that a boil would become infected... I believe there is to that story, as these are two distinct diagnoses that I know Dr. C would easily distinguish/diagnose. Just my opinion from having direct repeated experiences with Dr. C.)

Also did his residency at Kaiser Oakland. I have been a patient of his for years. When I first became a Kaiser patient and called the nurse-staffed "primary care physician" number to be assigned a primary doctor, the nurse told me emphatically that he was excellent, and I have never experienced anything else. She told me straight out that there were doctors she would not recommend, and he was definitely not one of them (in other words: she recommended him). If you ask around at Kaiser Oakland, the other employees know who is good and who isn't. Everyone I have ever talked to about Dr. Chung has said he is excellent, and I agree.
