Dr. Benjamin Aaron Goldberg, MD

Benjamin Goldberg who is an orthopedic doctor is unprofessional. I went in for a rotar cuff tear n inflammation of tendon. The resident doctor, Dr.Foy, was very professional n attentive but when Goldberg came in the energy in the room took an immediate shift for the bad. He started placing my injured and non injured arm in different positions and spewing out degrees of different positions my arms were being placed to the resident doctor in a very condescending tone. The resident doctor looked embarrassed n deflated. I had to tell Goldberg to stop turning my injured arm and just verbally explain to the resident doctor whatever he was trying to articulate because it was painful. I was also feeling like an object because of the way he was handling me. I explained to him there was like a clicking/popping in my forearm and my pain has been occurring since Nov. 2022 non stop everyday and it's a 10 and I wanted a prescription for a 4% laticad patch. I told him my RN Case Manager with my… healthcare coverage stated they would pay for it even though it's over the counter with a doctors prescription, he said, "I don't write prescriptions for anything you can get over the counter." He denied me access to non-narcotic medication that could help with my pain. He went in to speak to me in a condescending tone about the pain I have in my arm saying that if I'm explaining that the arm clicks he needs to feel it and it's mechanical and he can't treat it unless he feels it. I told him it happens several times a day usually when reaching for something but it's spontaneous not every time, he was very dismissive about it and said well I don't know what I don't know and I don't know what it is and I said I'm articulating it as a click that's the best way I can articulate it and he arrogantly said that's mechanical and knocked just fist on desk to demonstrate "mechanical" in a condescending way like I was stupid, he talked over me when I spoke and just wasn't giving me space to be heard. I told him I was a recent stroke survivor and lost part of my sight and I wanted a cortisone shot for pain, he said if he gave shot I can't have surgery if needed for 3 months because it causes a risk but he could give it to me if I wanted it but the crazy part was that he told me prior that he couldn't give me a shot cause he could see my mri images even though I told him the notes stated the findings. He then said you can go to therapy and come back in 2 months and it will get better and I said yes but I'm in a lot of pain now and have been since November and I can't take opioids because I'm allergic (hence wanting a cortisone shot) he was pushing therapy although I told him I was in therapy for a month it didn't work and mri shows problem. This man did not care. Then when I requested to have my medical transportation form signed for insurance company he said in a judgmental tone "why do you have transportation?" The resident doctor jumped and and said she has vision loss and I said I loss part of my vision from stroke and doctor restricted my driving for 6 months. This man was obviously racist, refused equitable care to me and his behavior is disgusting for a doctor. They swear to a code of ethics to provide equitable care and The poor resident doctor just held his head down with embarrassment and shame for the way doctor was treating me. He also made me take another X-ray after I told him I took xray. February for same arm/shoulder for the same reason and the results were in epic. They took xray even though mri and X-ray findings were visible in epic and then they wrote my shoulder had no fracture. WTH??? I expressed my concern about having another X-ray due to all of the imaging I've been subjected from strokes since Dec.2022. He gets zero stars n I'm sure more people have been subjected to this if they ever investigate they'll find others he's treated like this. I'm absolutely sure of it. I hope UIC Health does an investigation with all others he's treated and

Today I visited Dr. Goldberg at 1801 Taylor of UIC where I felt like I went to have some comedy time to meet comedians. The first guy came whose said he is colleague of Dr. Goldberg. Had no idea of how to talk or ask questions. And not only that he was not even patience to listen me. And asking things which I already mention. As I said I went to my personal doctor and told her my pain medication from counter is not working even and am taking alot which I don't like it. So she prescribed me hydocodone 10 tablets for a week. As I finished my sentence he said is that was injection or oral medicine. Then not only that he was not letting me finish talking. Even he act as I have no pain and it's just normal. He didn't even know the difference between the hand and arm. And after I told him I already had 4 x-rays and already had 6 weeks orthopedic therapy went to chiropractic three time. And brought my x-rays report with me which I got it yesterday. Which he said was not working. It's damaged.… And he want one more x-ray before he do anything. While I clear him. This pain is for last 5 months including had done 4 x-rays. Shouldn't he suppose to go MRI instead still x-ray. If x-ray had fixed it. The it should've done with those 4 x-rays. Anyway then one more comedian came who is Dr Goldberg who was so surprised to know that how I stand on the edge of the shower tub. One more unprofessional. And then his words were if he didn't find anything after the MRI he will not even bother to tell me. And no further appointments. So my answer to both those jokers then I myself don't want to waste my time to see them and let them make money when they can't help my pain.

Why wait 1 hour and 30 minutes for a doctor's resident to come in and play doctor. This guessing game was horrible. Then the All Might Dr. Goldberg floats in and ask what do you want me to do because you have so much going on. "I'm not God you know!" 10 minutes later he wants to give me an injection and out he goes never to be seen again. My next appointment I never saw him because I walked out. I waited over 2 hours and 45 minutes and was told that they have no idea how much longer my wait time would be. The charge nurse told me that I should have scheduled my day better. What a joke!

Did surgery on my right shoulder left my arm looking like Frankenstein refuse to give me pain meds aftercare was a shake of the hand and an exit I don't know if it was because of my insurance but one year later my shoulder hurts worse now than it did before the surgery he was very insulting as a doctor he shouldn't be paid for doctor visits because he do not care about the wellbeing of his patients he saids hello and immediately dismisses you would never recommend him to anyone Doctor's are supposed to be Compassionate caring people he sucks. I don't think he's deserving of one star to be honest.

Worst doctor experience. Still can't believe it. Waited over an hour for appointment (which by the looks of the other reviews was actually not bad!) The student doctor sent in to assess me spent more time and had better bedside manners than this joke of a human who happens to be a doctor! After he finally decided to make his appearance, he spent all over 30 seconds (no, seriously, less than 1 minute, I kid you not.) Total lack of bedside manners, barely assessed my injury before saying good-bye while telling me to pick up my prescription for physical therapy on my way out. When I asked what his diagnosis was, he dismissively told me the physical therapist could figure it out and left! I was shocked. HORRIBLE stay away!!!

I am sadden that this doctor is allowed to see patients. After waiting to see him over 3 hours he walked in for 30 seconds and left out. Never gave me a chance to ask questions, never really examined me and was very cruel. I left feeling like a number. Run fast

I was 20 minutes early for appointment and was made to wait 2hrs 30min to be seen, and to be insulted and agrivated by his Diagnosis and lack of bed side manner.

He is the best doctor. For 8 years I was seeing doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with my shoulder. I finally saw him and after 8 years of suffering with pain, he diagnosed me within 10 minutes, and then scheduled me for surgery. I have been great ever since. The surgery was in 2012 and I healed in 2 months after having the scapulothorcic bursitis surgery (Snapping Scapula w/bone spurs). A little bit of PT after that and I was as good as new. He is wonderful and will go to him if I have any other Ortho issues. I was getting very upset cause I did see other Ortho doctors and they has no idea what it was. I even had MRI's and other doctors could not figure it out but Dr. Goldberg did.

Dr Goldberg is not a good doctor he is liar my company hired him to do an pre surgical exam. i had a spinal injury which is territory for a neuro surgeon he was not the proper doctor for my injury he is an orthopaedic surgeon for shoulder and elbow .my injury is a neck and lower back of my spine.because he was simply hire by company paid he went right with the visit instead of telling my company he need to refer to the proper doctor.his exam was verbal no vital sign was taken everything he me do i could not do .because he was hire by my company he had support them.he was no support me or help and did not recomend any thing for.in the begining of the visit he not my doctor.he diagnosis was comical humiliating .he is not honest kind caring helpfull doctor.i pray to dear god i never see agin as a doctor.by the while in the waiting area other patient was complainig on him and that were going seek another doctor to replace him.i dont refer any one to visit him.in order for me to file the… compliant i have to grade him else one star to make the review .but in reality i grade him no star

Dr. Goldberg has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. He really cares about his patients. I would recommend him.
