Dr Benjamin W. Halligan, MD

Very frustrating and unsatisfactory. I had gone in with issue with my knee due to sports injury (locking, pain while doing simple activities), previously diagnosed as meniscus tear in my right knee. I was referred to Dr. Halligan, his diagnosis was to perform Knee Arthroscopy with partial medial meniscectomy, with lots of promises given to me on improvement. Doc had created hope and assurance that I will be able to play tennis, bike, play soccer etc. I had done everything as asked post surgery to my surprise months after surgery nothing much had improved, no attention was given even when I had pointed out specific area of pain, his assistant was does not get anything but will ask questions. It was quite a frustrating experience and I continue to live in pain, hence my recommendation will be no to my friends and family.

Dr Halligan is too authoritative without consider patients' needs and wants. I had knee injury and wanted to know what happens exactly on my knee . Ffter he examined he just said no MRI needed, just do PT without giving me the reason even I keep asking why and how it caused my pain. Since Dr Halligan couldn't explain , I visited another doctor for 2nd opinion and had MRI and found out my knee had chondral defect. Though I need to do PT at the end but My point is that why Dr Halligan not ordered MRI for me to find out what exactly? Strange doctor.

Dr. Halligan has taken excellent care of both of my teens. Broken arms and ACL knee surgery. Takes his time and is very thorough with evaluating the patient and arriving at a diagnosis. Explains to parent and kid what is going on and why he is choosing a particular treatment. He seems like a good man as well as an excellent doctor.

He has been excellent thus far pre and post op. Educating me, taking time to explain and responding to all my questions. I am now 7 weeks post op and very happy with progress so far.
