Dr. Benjamin Daniel Paysinger, MD

Where do I even begin? On the day of my visit, I saw and heard first hand what a disgrace Dr. Paysinger gives to the name Doctor. After waiting over an hour to be seen, I was stuck in a room by whom I'm guessing is Dr. Paysinger's nurse. She did not come in the room, ask what was going on, or take any of my vitals. While waiting on the Doctor to come in I overheard Dr. Paysinger complaining to his staff about having to see "old people." His exact words were "they drain the life out of me." I can only imagine the other horrible things he had to say about them. Finally, Dr. Paysinger comes into the room I am in. He asks me what is going on and then calls one of his staff to the room. He then begins to basically yell at this woman saying she is wasting his time and is a disgrace...etc. while she just has to stand there and take it all in. She looked as though she was about to cry and he continued on. This not only made me extremely uncomfortable, but made me want to never see this doctor… again. Again, this is only a glimpse of what I am sure is an every day thing at this office. When dr. Paysinger left the room, I asked her if he was always like that. She was honest with me and said "unfortunately, yes." Needless to say, that was my first and last visit to Dr. Paysinger. I will be sure to tell every person I know what a jerk this doctor is. Doctor's are supposed to be compassionate with good bedside manner. Dr. Paysinger not only lacks that, but also lacks respect for his staff. I assume he doesn't realize that he could not have an office without his staff.

This was the worst ENT office I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately, I am unable to give them 0 stars. The only thing positive I can say is the nurse practitioner is very sweet. After being examined by the NP, she had Dr. Bouknight look at my ear under a microscope. She was extremely rude. I have been experiencing extreme pain in my left ear and hearing problems. She asked when my problems started and I told her 2 years ago. Although, I have had tubes placed in my ears and they were great for a year, she immediately chalked my issues up to being "chronic" and sent me packing. They stated i had Eustachian tube problems but also saw issues with my eardrum and wanted me to be seen by Dr. Paysinger in DECEMBER. After prodding around in my ear and touching something that hurt me, she proceeded to tell me that ai shouldn't be having any pain in my ear canal. I know what I felt and to have someone tell me otherwise is unacceptable. The wait time in the office is terrible as well. I arrived… with my paperwork complete and even made them a copy of my insurance card and drivers license and I still waited in the waiting room over an hour. I was in the office a total of 3 hours for absolutely nothing. They even did testing showing negative sound waves in my left ear and know that there is clearly an issue. Do not waste your time going to this ENT. If Dr. Bouknight is any representation of the way the staff treats their patients, I would not recommend it.

I had the misfortune of getting Kelley for my nurse. She was not only unkind but did not follow through with needed medication/Rx changes that needed to be made. I woke up from anesthesia in a panic attack. I tried to remove a drip rag taped above my lip and Kelley screamed at me. It is just gauze with tape and could be reapplied. I told her that I was having a panic attack as my teeth chattered. She then lectured me about telling the anesthesiologists about my anxiety before surgery. I have had surgery before, and never had an attack. Prior surgeons seemed more aware of SLE/Lupus and always gave me prednisone. I noted that opioids would not work on me, and that I would need something for inflammation. She was antagonistic, said "do you want me to bother the doctor during surgery?" I said please have him call something in for me as soon as he is through. I noted again that I would swell up with the Lupus. She did not do this. Her supervisor and the doctor's office verified this today.… The opioids they pumped into me had no affect on the pain. I tried one prescribed opioid because medical staff refused to get back with me. I swelled up. My lips and face swelled up. My lips split in places due to the swelling. My husband says he confronted the doctor before we left about my meds. being wrong, but he did nothing (seemed to disregard him). Did nobody care? If I had not found a few left over prednisone from an old taper, my face would have continued to swell. It took 3 &1/2 days to be able to go to the bathroom, but it was painful. Urination became increasingly painful. This should not have happened. During my first visit with the doctor, I clearly noted that opioids did not work for me. If I did not have left over prednisione, I would have been in the emergency room over the weekend. Not everyone is the same and responds the same way to medication. Listening to people would be helpful. I called the doctorâ??s office again today. Another individual named Kelley noted they had my messages, but no one called me back. She seemed to think it wasnâ??t their responsibility to call me back. I cancelled my next appointment. This lack of follow-through was very upsetting. Kelley told me that I would have to come in again for a new prescription for pain. I was in pain all weekend. The inflammation is another issue. I did not have to come in for meds for inflammation. She got snippy and said go to urgent care if your issues are so bad. I did end up receiving emergency services today. The inflammation was due to a reaction to opioids pumped into me at surgery. They had to catheterize me. The pain was excruciating. Not once did the Doctorâ??s office call to see how I was doing. They never returned a call regarding the wrong prescription. I was left talking to a secretary who told me to go elsewhere. I will not be back.

Hello, I hope this review finds you well in your search for a quality ENT Doctor. My experience is broken down by my interactions with personnel and Dr. Paysinger. The Office/Administrative Personnel: Unprofessional or inexperienced. Nearly every call into this office begins with, "Palmetto ENT, can I place you on hold?", Unfortunately the person on the other end doesn't give you time to respond to whether or not you want to be placed on hold before they place you on hold. The average hold time I experienced in 3 separate calls ranged from 4-7 minutes. There were numerous times I called and the line was busy. I asked two primary questions, "1. Do you accept my insurance plan?" and "2. Do I need a referral to your office since I have a past history of ENT problems?" The answer was yes we accept your health insurance plan and the second was, no we do not need a referral because we are accepting new patients. The Office Wait Time: Over 2 hours after appointment time. The… Waiting Area: This clinic sees a tremendous amount of patients. In a one hour waiting period, I counted 27 patients. As I understand that there are three ENT Doctor's at this practice, 27 patients in an hour period could explain why my wait time along with many other patients was so prolonged. The Doctor: Dr. Paysinger does not listen well. He will ask a question and then interrupt you mid-sentence. He was in a hurry, and stared more at my medical sheet than my ears, nose or throat. In a nutshell, his pride/ego prevents him from listening and understanding that I have been living ill for years with discomfort. My quality of life can be disrupted very easily when my symptoms are not under control. I wasn't necessarily looking for a magical miracle working Dr., just one that was a decent person who I could establish a good rapport with that could help me find good sound treatment. I didn't find this with this particular Dr. Overall: Long wait times to set up appointments, long waiting room times, and impersonal staff and Doctor.

Dr. Paysinger performed a sinus surgery for me to releive pain and pressure in my head and ears. one and a half weeks later I am healed up and feeling great! No more pressure. He explained everything in detail and made sure my questions were answered. He also assisted in removing a brain tumor for my mother about 10 years ago, she was pleased with him also.

The wait was long, but I can live with that. The staff was friendly. He is a mellow fellow, but I was left a little puzzled. He asked a few questions and ended by running a tube down my nose all the way into my throat in order to see in there. Could find no reason for my sore throat, but made an appointment for me to see a gastroenterologist. I don't know if his patient manners are a little short or if I didn't catch on to the subtleties of his comments. Of course, it would be easier if he said: "You have XYZ and the solution is ABC" and then it worked. So now I have to go to the next expert. Later I will know if his unspoken diagnosis was correct. Clearly, I have some sort of throat condition that may be either caused or worsened by my acid reflux. It's hard to give a grade when you are left hanging waiting for the next appointment.

Dr Paysinger and his staff provided top-notch care. My issues were addressed and corrected timely with no complications. I have highly recommended Dr Paysinger to my family and friends.
