Berkeley G. Bate, MD

I was referred to Dr. Bate after a failed cervical spine fusion. I was surprised at how much time he spent going over my MRI studies and talking to me about my condition. Unfortunately the situation with my C-spine is something I will just have to live with. He consulted with some of the brightest and accomplished neurosurgeons in the state. He even talked to some of his colleagues from other areas. They all agreed with Dr. Bate. I appreciate his candor and I felt he was genuinely sorry that he or others could not resolve my issue. I would recommend Dr. Bate to anyone in need of a neurosurgeon.

Dont see this doctor. ! This doctor doesnt see his patience after surgery and doesnt see them for a year review. He only relies on MRI and Ct scans which we know do not tell everything about a patience. He will have an MA or his office manager who has no medical training call you to discuss results. He doesn't care to talk to his patience after he has cut into you. This shows that he's not compassionate. With me, he only did half of the surgery. He refused to see me at the year follow up visit based on results from the MRI. I drove 5 hours down from SLC, left my daughter taking care of her premature baby in the NICU, to come to my appointment that I had made 3 weeks prior to the appointment. Only to be told by his MA and office manager that my MRI was fine and he wouldnt' see me. He didn't even have the courtesy to talk to me. I was very upset. So then he sent a certified letter to my house that he was ending our relationship as dr and patient. And in the letter he wrote things about… me that were not true. and then he's had the letter attached to my medical records. After they turned me away that morning, I was in so much pain, I turned to my pain doctor who documented my blood pressure was high and my left leg was having problems. 2 days later I was getting a pain injection. Dont go to this doctor. His staff are not trained to discuss your medical care and he relies on them to do it. Don't go to this doctor. He will cut you, sew you up, and be done with you. The video he has on the ihc web page is not true. Dont go to this doctor !!!!!!!

Dr. Bate is an amazing surgeon. He has performed to brain surgeries for me and has done an excellent job.
