Dr. Betsy S Merrell, MD

Upon my first visit with Dr.Merrell she impressed me with her professionalism, kind and patient demeanor. She was very thorough in her questions about my medical history, any concerns I had, and ordered complete blood work for my next visit six months later. Upon my second visit, I was greeted by Cathy who made me feel as welcome and comfortable as one can be in a doctor’s office. As it turned out I told Dr. Merrell of a problem I was experiencing with my digestive track. She and her staff immediately setup appointments with a series of specialists who work at Pardee Medical Center that diagnosed the problem and set in motion a sequence of events that saved my life. I will forever be grateful for her and her staff for their quick attention to, and identification of my condition. Two and a half years later, Dr.Merrell and her staff continue to be engaged and aware of my medical needs and always make me feel like I’m a VIP (very important patient). Trust her and her staff they’ll send… you in the right direction.

Needing blood work prior to my appointment Cathy told me to go to hospital and she would send over the orders to them. I went to the hospital and was told that there were no orders. Then I was also told that the Doctors office could have done my bloodwork. So why are they sending me to the hospital? When I called and talked to Cathy again, and explained I was cancelling my appointment because the orders for blood work were not sent over again, as this is the second time it’s happened to me she didn’t apologized she said Okay. This same thing has also happened to my wife.more than once. We like Dr. Merrell. However having to deal with incompetent people in the office, is making us think about looking elsewhere for medical care. Also if you ask to have the Doctor call at her convince a call is never received. Which she was probably not given the message.

Dr Merrell has consistently worked to give me thorough and compassionate health care - not giving up if the disease and cure is not immediately recognizable. I owe my well-being to her and her staff.

Absolutely love Dr. Merrell! Have been seeing her for 4 years. She always listens and found an unusual condition for someone my age. Could not recommend a better family doctor.

Unfortunately, this office cannot accomdate sick appointments, even for established patients. They will always recommend you go to urgent care. This is great, as long as you never plan on getting sick. However, me and my family are relatively healthy and are pro-active with yearly check-ups, but sadly, this office and Dr. Merrill do not offer 'sick' appointments. I've seen PARDEE Urgent care 98% more than I have Dr. Merrill because of their inability to accomodate. Changing back to old practitioner who is able to accomodate.

Some of these reviews are very unfair. I started with Dr. Merrell last year and have seen her a few times. I find her to be very thorough and concerned. She is very professional and does listen to me. I have e-mailed her through the patient portal and she is very prompt to answer. Some of the staff members could use a bit of bedside manner training but overall, the office is well run and efficient. I would recommend Dr. Merrell.

It's easy enough to get an appointment, but once you get there you feel like your a burden to her. I think she just wants the MD title, but too beneath her to actual care or listen to what's wrong with you. Self of entitlement & perhaps insure about her childhood & punishes other people for it. She smiles but it's condescending. I was warned about this, but ignored the warning. DONE

It's always easy to get an appointment with Betsy Merrell, as long as it's Monday - Thursday. You come to understand that, if for example, your appointment is at 3PM and there is no one in the waiting room-which is always the case-you will be seen at 3PM. Yes, the entire staff are not at all friendly, rude... They work for Dr. Merrell, who has no bedside manner. She does not make eye contact, does not touch the patient and sits as far away as possible speaking in a low voice while typing on her computer. As far as questions about her being able to make an "Accurate Diagnosis", Dr. Merrell does not diagnosis - she refers. There is no follow up. It is as if she does not care. She is never available unless you make an appointment. Lab and other results are typically relayed by a receptionist. In the end, I really blame myself. I never put the time and energy into finding a good doctor. I had myself believing that because she was part of Pardee Family Medicine - she was a good doctor and I… was wrong.

I have never in all my life met worse staff. I will be changing Dr.s for my daughter.

Dr. Merrell is truly is GP. She manages all of my health care & follows up with referrals to other specialists including orthorpedic, pain, nerologic, & psychiatric. She is insightful and caring and sees the whole picture.
