Dr. Bhavik Lakhabhai Gedia, MD

Visited Dr G after a referral from my family physician. She requested a neurological exam and assessment. Instead, Dr. G looked at my appearance (I was having a good day with less symptoms so I was able to wear makeup that day)and instantly judged that I was okay. I tried to explain that the "episode" I had was nearly 4 weeks prior and the symptoms had receded, leaving me with only residual deficits. I brought all my documentation and he barely glanced at it. He pushed and pulled on my arms and that was the only physical exam he did, he did absolutely nothing to evaluate my left leg or my balance or strength. He spent less than 15 minutes total with me, but in that space of time he vacillated between telling me I have benign fasciculation syndrome, fibromyalgia and finally just saying it's all in my head. I explained that I have difficulty with my balance, and with weakness in my left leg and he rudely stated how he has many patients with REAL mobility issues and I should be thankful I… am not like them, I suppose because that day I wasn't using my cane? I began to cry because of my frustration with him not listening and because he so rudely said I didn't have real issues so he dismissed me and said I just have anxiety. Fast forward to now - after a long wait I got in to see a neurologist at SFU for a second opinion and she spent 45 minutes with me, reviewed my records and information, and thoroughly assessed my abilities. She noted demonstrable deficits in my left side, with regards to reflexes, balance and strength. Ordered some myelin-related bloodwork, EMG testing and a full neurological eval. This is what a good Neuro should do, not be rude and dismissive as Dr G was. Please l, please read reviews before you choose your doctor. I read several other reviews that stated Dr G is not a good doctor and how he missed diagnosing something important (MS in one case) and I hoped for the best from him but like others, got the worst. Do your research before you choose. For me, this was the worst doctor visit I've ever had in my entire life, and I'm still on the hook for nearly $300.

Came in with assumptions about my condition without ever having examined me. I was a new patient but he only did a very brief physical exam and did not evaluate important things like my balance. He didn't want to consider any of the information from previous testing showing abnormalities indicating a need for a neurological workup. Have physician documented evidence of vertigo, abnormal saccades caused by CNS origin, clonus, hyperreflexia, and other neurological abnormalities with a request for a neurological consult and workup. Was insistent everything was due to fibromyalgia and would not consider any other possibilities. Was dismissive of the other doctor's findings and disrespectful to me as a patient. Did nothing to offer any testing or further examination, but wanted to increase medication dosage. When I became upset about his insistence he then said it was anxiety. If you're looking for a compassionate doctor who listens and cares about you, look elsewhere.

He is very personable and upbeat. I always enjoy my visit with him.

The worse customer service from staff and nurses. they are rude, they are bad educated, and do not like to help. People can not understand that the same way they would like to be treated, is how they should treat others. People fail to understand, that they have every check, just for the service they provide to clients or patients. That is why they can survive the demands of life.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gedia's for several years and have never known a more compassionate doctor. This doctor truly cares about his patients well being and I have not only felt this with the way he treated me in the past, but I was able to see his devotion to other patients as well. Truly devoted to his profession and highly recommended.

I went to Doctor Bhavik office to follow up in a emergency need of prescription after a brain surgery, and I was expecting that he know what mean to be in need of a medication that you is called ER a Extended Release. Some people like me that have extra health problems, cannot tolerate a common pill. The doctor have to call the health insurance to ask for primary authorization. He left the office without take care or call the insurance living me without no medication for Holidays. This a negligence that should never happen to any patient need medication to survive.
