Dr. Blanton Craig Gourley, MD

A friend recommended Dr. Gourley to me back in 1999 and he has provided excellent, compassionate care to me for two decades. He truly cares about his patients, is knowledgeable, and very relatable.

Dr Blanton gourley is the reason I to this day have autism he messed up my delivery.

Dr. Gourley has been my doctor since I was an OB patient with my daughters, who are now 27 and 22 years old. I only left him briefly for a few years during a time when I changed jobs and had other insurance that was not approved for his practice. At the first opportunity, I went back to him and his practice and never looked back! Dr. Gourley is extremely courteous, kind, caring, and very, very thorough. I love him!!!!! He is very knowledgable and shows me that he cares about my health issues. During times when I need extra care and possible surgery, he explains the entire process to me - with drawings - so, as much as I am capable, I can understand exactly what my body was doing and how it is changing. I feel very safe with him. He listens to me, answers all my questions, and gives me the assurance that everything will be okay. And, so far, it always has been. I don't know if a doctor-patient relationship can get any better than that. 28 years, yes!!, he was a "baby" doctor… when I started seeing him, probably finishing up his residency, but I knew then, I wanted to keep him for a very long time. Oh, and his bedside manner - in my opinion - is extraordinary!! Chemistry - it's either there or it's not.

Dr Grouley hands down was my favorite doctor! I started bleeding during my pregnancy and he was very thorough. I ended up in the hospital for the night and 2 weeks bed rest. I'm so thankful that I saw him that day. Five weeks later I deliver my healthy baby boy 7lbs and 6ozs.

Horribly rude and impatient doctor with ZERO compassion. I had the worse experience of my life with this doctor and not because the situation was overly complicated, but because Dr. Gourley did not want to waste his time with me while he slept thru my delivery. He refused my delivery request and was snippy and hateful the entire duration of my delivery. I have wished a million times over I had made him leave the delivery room and refused him until his attitude was better or a smidgen of kindness could kick in. Avoid this doctor!!!!

Dr. Gourley and I met at the end of my labor for my first child. I had a horrible experience with some doctors at Charlotte OB GYN and he assured me that if I came to see him, I wouldn't encounter that again. So, I began my prenatal visits for my second child with him last August. We didn't agree on the flu shot, which is ok, except for the fact that every time I went in he offered it to me and when I refused he insisted on reminding me that like 3 or 4 pregnant women in North Carolina died a few years back from the flu. I thought that was a little extreme and a scare tactic. Then, Then I had my blood glucose test. It came back borderline and I was told by the nurse that I did not have Gestational Diabetes, but that they wanted me to talk to someone at the diabetes center about diet and a few things that I could do to make sure my blood sugar didn't get out of control. I was away on vacation when I got this news, so I wasn't able to make an appointment at the diabetes center… before my next prenatal visit. When I informed Dr. Gourley that I hadn't had a chance to get there yet, he threatened me with, "You're going to have a giant baby," again (which was the exact reason I had a problem during my last pregnancy. Dr. Hansen told me I needed to have a C to remove my at least 10.5 lb. baby. I refused and gave birth to a 7 lb. 14 oz. little girl)! I was in total shock. He knew what I went through last time and then had the nerve to do the same to me again.Long story short, I went to the diabetes center (they would not talk to me over the phone) and was told by one of their nurses that I was diagnosed with GD and that I needed to completely overhaul my diet and check my blood sugar 4 times a day. So was I lied to? Did I actually have GD? I was completely confused and had no idea what to do. I felt completely alone and didn't know where to turn.I was forced, at 34 weeks pregnant, to change practices because all of the stress that had been dumped in my lap by Charlotte OB GYN.

I really like him and his staff too. So proffesional and caring.
