Dr. Brad Steven Elkins, MD

Dr Elkins is the FIRST out of the FIVE Opthamologists I have seen about cataract surgery who actually examined all the aspects of my real eyes ( not text book perfect eyes) And and shared his findings with me in layman’s terms and in black and white , concluded which lens I should have. And they were not the expensive multifocus ones I was willing to pay for IF they were going to be right for my eyes. It clearly wasn’t a reaction based on money. To paraphrase he said it’s a lot of money.. why do that lens when your eyes have conditions inherent in them that will continue to disturb the clarity of your vision AND you will need glasses all the time regardless? The rest either hinted about the best lens, only told me I “ wasn’t a candidate” for the multi focus lens without telling me WHY Or told me nobody can predict the outcome .. maybe I will have to wear glasses anyway.. NOBODY KNOWS. And left me to decide in my own with no info to go on except that the multi was clearly the best BUT… the choice was up to me. I was in the office for 2 hours and always going they tests with one of his staff. The best staff by the way and my wait times were so short I hardly had the time to realize I was now waiting!! Very efficient and friendly office. They talk TO YOU. He spent at least half an hour with me. Very careful and detailed exam. Answered all my questions clearly. Wonderful rapport with me. I am easily squelched when I feel they don’t want to me to bother them with questions. I was able to be at ease asking my questions. That surprised me. And new questions came up as we were there and I asked and he answered AND explained in words that I could understand clearly what is going on in my own personal eyes that I WANTED to know!! Great experience.

Dr Elkins is a wonderful, courteous, honest, and professional doctor. However, I had a lot of problems with his billing staff who were very aggressive with insurance billing and collecting from me the last $ that insurance did not pay the office. After making an appointment for a follow I got a phone call from his billing staff telling me that before I can see Dr Elkins on the day of appointment I have to pay my remaining balance of $24 plus my insurance deductible for the year 2016. This is the first time any doctor office has asked me to pay my insurance deductible before I can see the doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Elkins for about 3 years for my annual eye exams. I finally made the decision to have the LASIK done. It was a wonderful experience. From the beginning to the end was great. He explained what to expect and every step of the procedure as it was happening. I was up and reading the clock across the room in twenty minutes. I am very happy with my decision to have the LASIK and having Dr. Elkins perform it.

I'm extremely nearsighted and I've been in contacts and glasses for over 40 years. Dr. Elkins just did LASIK on my eyes, and it really is a miracle. There are other places that I could have got the surgery cheaper, but who are you going to trust your eyes with? My entire family and I have been with Dr. Elkins for the longest time. I'm so grateful Dr. Elkins has given me the gift of site, I will be forever grateful. Thank you!!!

My procedure went flawlessly, and I'm very happy with my results.
