Dr. Brad Lawrence Epstein, MD

I liked Dr.Epstein alot. He was a great doctor and i would go back to him.

Dr. Epstein likes to flaunt his "expert" medical knowledge without concern for the feelings of his patients. He has no bedside manners at all, which is an integral part of being a professional doctor. Not only did I personally have bad experiences with both him and his staff, my co-worker told me that her sister did as well. She said her sister had to have surgery and he basically told her she would die on the table and gave her no hope or positive outlook at all. That was years ago...and she is fine to this day. Isn't part of being a good doctor to instill hope in your patients? Not with Dr. Epstein. He is very uncaring. He may tell it "like it is" and lay it all out for you, but if you are human there is so much more to be desired than just that. He repeatedly outlines dire possibilities of a situation which many times turns out to be nothing. He jumps the gun without considering his patients' human side. When you are an expert, and people are looking to you for advice and… consolation, you need to be kind-hearted, which this doctor is not.

I was first referred to Dr. Epstein, by my regular gynecologist, in 2004 for a procedure that he was regarded as the expert in the area. I followed my doctor's recommendation and had Dr. Epstein perform the procedure with great success. Now years later, I needed additional information on the procedure I had done NINE years ago. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly (within a week) and was treated like I had been seeing the doctor for all those years. Yes, he was running behind schedule, but that is nothing new for any gynecologist who delivers babies. As a standard procedure I normally call the doctor's office before I leave work, to make sure he is running on schedule. They told me their honest assessment, and then offered to call me when he arrived so I wouldn't need to be there any longer than normal. I know staff doesn't want you to wait anymore than you do. The doctor took a great deal of time reviewing the past procedure and explaining my options moving… forward. He was not in a hurry and made sure I understood everything. When I left, I remembered that he was the expert, and I felt I got his expert opinion.

If your a patient of Dr. Epstein and are pregnant or planning a pregnancy BEWARE. If you are not a patient,please do not consider being one. Dr. Epstein delivered my baby breech for no other reason than a ego boost and to fulfill his godlike complex. We knew my baby was feet first hours before delivery, and instead of doing the safe ethical thing and perform a C-section, he decided to deliver him breech vaginally. He told me it was just like "backing a car out of the garage" a little harder than pulling forward but other than that no big deal. Little did I know that wasnt true. Not only did I spike a fever due to the stress of this delivery and could not even hold my baby for 24 hours because of that. Also, my baby was not only in intensive care for 3 days due to this delivery he had to wear a brace for the damage done to his legs because of this delivery. He had a feeding tube through his nose and had a horrible time with feedings. I knew something was up when the room filled up with… students and young doctors who said they have never seen a breech delivery. Now I know this is because most doctors would never risk the mother or child's life by doing a breech delivery unless it was an emergency, which this was not. Afterwards not only did he brag at the hospital that he almost lost a baby today because he HAD to deliver him breech, he also told my sister in law who was 7 months pregnant that he almost lost my son and it was a touch and go delivery. He made himself out to be a hero instead of the villian that he really is. Every doctor that I have talked to since said it was completely egotistical and unethical for him to deliver a baby vaginally that he knew hours in advance was breech. In retrospect I should have filed a lawsuit but I was just so happy my baby and I made it through this horrible delivery that I just want to spread the word not to trust this doctor with your pregnancy.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Epstein. He didn't listen to me at all and made me feel like a terrible mother for choosing not to get certain shots during my pregnancy. I left his office in tears more than once and ended up having to find a new doctor 6 months into my pregnancy. I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone.

this past year i had a sweet lil baby girl after a long time waiting. dr. epstein saw this thru with my husband and i from even before i got pregnant. he gave me the utmost, and excellent care. i always felt dr. epstein had plenty of time for me, and he always answered all my questions..we owe dr. epstein such love and gratitude//fpr jelping to brig our sweet lil girl into this world!!! thankyou dr. epstein!

Dr. Epstein is awesome to say the least!! Unlike some doctors, he truly cares about his patients. Dr. Epstein has seen me through three failed pregnancies, and the very difficult removal of my fallopian tubes. He always encourages me and says very positive things to me about my options and having children in the future. When I say, "If we ever have a baby," he ALWAYS says, "When, you have a baby!!" He encourages me to keep my dream of becoming a mother alive, even when I feel like giving it all up. He is not a cold fish like many doctors are. Recently, I was there for my routine pap smear, and just talking about my struggles with infertility brought me to tears. It is not my goal to get sympathy , but when I cry, I can tell that he truly understands what I'm going through and wants the best for me. Recently, I moved out of Elgin, but will continue to make the drive to see Dr. Epstein. He is God sent! The two surgeries that he performed on me were very time sensitive, and truly saved my… life! Do not hesitate to schedule an appt to see Dr. Epstein!! You will not regret it :-)

I switched to Dr. Epstein because of the reviews, when I was 4 mnth pregnant. He told me, he will fix my hernia, from the previous C section. So we schedule another C Section for my second child. And it's not enough, that the wait time was from 30 min to 1 hr and 20 min, he never spent more then 2 min with me, saying that everything is fine. When it was 3 weeks before the surgery, WITHOUGT TALKING TO ME, he rescheduled it for 3 days later, because it wasn't convenient for him any more!

I am a former patient of Dr. Epstein. Not only did he misdiagnose me (without even doing any tests to back up his claim!), but he always seemed rushed whenever I saw him. He seemed like he could not wait to get on to his next patient. He never took the time to listen to what I had to say or my questions. His staff even phoned me once to congratulate me on my pregnancy, when he told me that if I was pregnant, I was miscarrying (I was bleeding). Staff as well as doctor very unprofessional. He also relies heavily on midwives instead of himself. (By the way, he misdiagnosed me with cancer and said I would need chemo. His exact words were "an ingrown toenail is much worse". That was 16 years ago and here I am still cancer-free!)Very uncaring and impatient doctor. Terrible bedside manner. The worst.
