Dr. Bradley John Schnierow

After seeing a pulmonary dr. in Maryland with a standard sleep apnea machine many years ago, I moved to San Diego in 2009 and found this dr. He convinced me that I needed a $12,ooo machine over the previous $1200 machine because he said there was a secondary problem with my diaphram breathing. He saw me at least 10 times over the next 18 months. The machine broke. Their recomended sleep machine company came out and replaced it. I got a bill from Blue cross for $12,ooo because I had "bought" the 1st machine and they made me "buy", unknowingly, the 2nd machine. Also Dr. required to be paid by cash and we would be reimbursed by Blue Cross , highly inconvenient and unusual. Finally I swiched to a pulmuary dr. here who prescribed basic original $1200 sleep apnea machine, covered by Blue Cross, and said Dr. Schnierow has "over prescribed" these dual machines that I didn't need. I trust the 2 pulmonary sleep medicine Dr.s over a psychiatrist who specializes in sleep medicine. After pleading… with Blue Cross we reduced our $12000 to $ 7000.

My son had a chronic daily headache for 3 years. He says of the 28 Doctors he saw, Dr. Schnierow is the only one that talked to him, not at him. With Dr. Schnierow's help, my son was able to sleep through the night for the first time in three years, and eventually, able to use biofeedback and meditation to relieve his headache. I recommend Dr. Schnierow to anyone that has sleep issues.

Dr. Schnierow IS the reason that I sleep now and without the aid of pharmaceuticals. I've struggled with severe insomnia for over 20 years and have been to multiple sleep doctors from Boston to San Diego. Since I don't have a physical problem like sleep apnea most doctors tell me to not watch tv in my room, get out of bed after 20 min, don't drink caffeine etc. I've also tried natural meds, EMDR etc. nothing was working.Dr. Schnierow is the first sleep doctor to "think outside the box" and give me hope that I wasn't going to live my life sleepless. He listened to my story and gave me suggestions that actually worked. Repairing years of insomnia takes time and Dr. Schnierow gives me that time and creativity. Just a side note that at my first appointment with him we got in a discussion where I became frustrated and almost didn't go back. I am so grateful that I did!! I have enjoyed every appointment since and feel like I really have someone looking out for my sleep. Plus, I was… able to get in to see him in 1 week vs. 4 months for another sleep specialist in town.If you want a new approach and attitude to your sleep problems go to Dr. Schnierow.

Without a doubt, this guy is the smartest MD I have ever been to. He embodies the term specialist (regarding sleep physiology and medicine) and is up date on the latest science and practice. It is refrehing to go to a doc for once that 1) will spend time with you, 2) actually think and know what he is talking about, and 3) come up with rational OPTIONS (drug and non drug) for treatment. I was very impressed.

He seems like he studied his subject well in school, but he wasn't very good at diagnosing my condition and proscribing a treatment. In two visits we didn't really get anywhere.
