Dr. Brandan Mayer Blackwell, MD

When I came in for a sports med appointment, Dr Mayer Blackwell barely looked at me or did any physical analysis of my situation before giving me a diagnosis that was completely off-base. I came in for a running injury and it felt like because I was not a professional athlete (as in I was running as a hobby and passion), he did not take me or my want to keep running seriously, and instead just told me to take 2-3 months off for a fairly minor injury. Again, keep in mind this diagnosis was all happening before he looked at my leg, had me do any exercises, etc. Additionally, I would ask him questions and in responding to them, he made me feel like I should already know the answer myself. Overall, Dr Mayer Blackwell was extremely condescending towards me, and I have never forgotten how small that appointment made me feel. I truly hope he was having a bad day, because this is no way to be treating a patient.

Dr Mayer Blackwell is an extraordinary talented, knowledgeable and caring physician/ his expertise and professionalism in handling so perfectly the ultrasound and injection on the care of my knee injury yesterday, was outstanding.

Today was my first visit with him and he came across highly competent and comfortably professional. Long story short, I was telling him about my complaints and he basically asked me to make a couple movements and was ready to tell me what exactly he thought was wrong. It made me feel so much more at ease about my problems. I couldn’t thank him enough.

Dr. Mayer Blackwell took plenty of time with us. Listened, and helped. Talented young doctor.

This doctor talks like he knows what he is doing but might make a better doctor in some years after he has more experience. If you see him, do not hesitate to get a second opinion before taking his advice.
