He ruined my shoulder! After my failed surgery, I complained about pain, he didn’t even come close to me to hear the grinding noises that were coming from moving my arm. I have been to 2 different Orthopaedic surgeons and both agreed that what Dr Barnard did to my shoulder was a pretty aggressive approach that was not needed. He rushed me to this surgery saying that I would need a shoulder replacement if I didn’t get surgery soon! I’m living in pain after 3 years and don’t have full range of motion! He told me not to raise my arm for a whole year! My shoulder is forever ruined. Please run as fast as possible away from this man!

Dr. Barnard is one of my favorite Doctors as well as one of my favorite people. He is extremely knowledgeable and very down to earth. I have had two surgeries performed by Dr. B. Barnard outcome very well. In an MRI he caught something that had been overlooked by many before in my neck, he advised me to promptly to seek medical attention with a Specialist in Spine and neck. I find Dr. Brian Barnard a major benefit to society. Thank you Dr. Barnard.

I had two office visits with Dr. Barnard about my shoulder. X rays done, then my first consult with Dr. Barnard. Right from the start, he commented based on the x rays, that I must be in so much pain. He said my A/C joint had a lot of arthritis and that there was probably tearing in there that would probably need to be operated on in the near future. I was so surprised at this dire evaluation after such a short visit. He did not take the time to do any manual arm testing, checking range of motion in different arm positions. In fact, he did not even bother to touch me. I pointed out my pain was in the back of the shoulder joint, but he kept insisting the problem area was on top, because of the x ray. I told him I would like to do some physical therapy and I did about 8 visits at WP Jewett PT - worthless, bordering on making the pain worse. When we discussed pt, he told me it would be a good idea to learn the shoulder exercises, as I would need them after I have surgery… sometime in the future. I was so surprised to hear this. When I went back for my 2nd visit a couple months later, he prescribed a shoulder MRI. He said the MRI would show how bad the tear was and if it was really bad, getting surgery would be the best bet before it tears all the way. Yikes, I thought. I actually was in the process of scheduling it, when the MRI dept told me this would be a dye injection study. He never mentioned that to me. That's when I decided to get another opinion and I'm sure glad I did! I went to Dr. Christensen, shoulder ortho at Orlando Orthopedic and he too took X-rays and came in and did a much more thorough work up on me. He took to time to ask about my pain with my arm in all sorts of different positions, sometimes as he put pressure on my arms, in different directions. I felt a lot more confident in his methods. He said my simple shoulder pain could be taken care of, doing two things: By doing daily shoulder exercise at home, using a simple pulley device you use at home that the office sells for $20.00, starting slowly and building up more range. You just slip a part of it over the top of a door. It was very slick and ohh so effective. He also wrote a script for an anti-inflammatory and what do you know, slowly but surely I got better. Now I have full range with no pain and I can sleep on that side. I asked Dr. Christensen what he saw on the x rays. He said they looked good!!!! I asked him about my A/C joint and he said it looked normal. WOW What a difference between these two doctors. I am sooo glad I went for a second opinion.

I went to Dr. Barnard in 2012 after another unnamed ortho in Lake Mary in 2011 left my broken wrist and torn right shoulder as "something I'd have to live with." Dr. Barnard took care of my broken wrist, then addressed my torn up shoulder. I am back lifting weights for several years now, and have full range of movement with my right arm, all pain free. Last year, my wife tore ligaments in her shoulder and there was no one else I'd consider to care for her. Dr Barnard gave her the choice of operation soon or potential future shoulder replacement. Dr Barnard operated on my wife's shoulder and she, too, is pain free and has full range of movement with her arm, enabling her to complete her [personal choice] two hour daily exercise workout with weights with ease. I have complete faith and trust in Dr Barnard's diagnosis and surgery, and consider my family very fortunate to have gone with his services.

Dr. Barnard performed surgery on my shoulder and will be doing my other shoulder. Outstanding physician and surgeon.

After a minor trip and fall ended in a crazy bad fracture . He fixed it !! I've had minimal pain, great motion and I'm doing great. The man is gifted.

Dr. Barnard is a superior surgeon. He not only diagnosed my difficult case, when faced with additional serious problems than hadn't showed on the x-rays and MRI, he corrected everything. Going in, all he knew was injured was my rotator cuff. After the surgery, he stated my rotator cuff was shredded and a near catastrophic injury. He had to sew the shreds together and attached them with clips to the bone, other bones had to be shaved, also to make my shoulder work properly. Many surgeons would not have gone the extra mile to make sure my shoulder would be perfect. Thank goodness he did. When other medical professionals or those who've had shoulder surgery ask how is my range of motion, I just swing my arm in all directions and they are amazed. My ROM is perfect.

Be sure to only talk about the major item that you have set up the appointment for. You'll be coming back in for another appointment for what you needed. Not a good experience.
