Dr. Brian Matthew Eiss

Dr. Eiss is supposed to be my primary care physician (“PCP”). My United HealthCare insurance requires an in-network PCP and he is in that network. I am 85 and had my first appointment with him in October, 2025 at the Weill Cornell Center on Aging. I would give him 5 stars but the Weill Cornell firewall for all communications is a broken system which prevents any direct communication with the doctor. The call screening process goes through a virtual attendant, then to appointments and then from there apparently to a clerk in the doctors group who is supposed to email the doctor and wait for a reply and then contact the patient. THIS SYSTEM IS WORTH 0 STARS. So I split the difference and rate Dr. Eiss with 3 stars even though this abysmal system is not his fault. The following illustrates why the communications system does not work. After I saw Dr. Eiss last October I was supposed to have an appointment in 6 months because he did not do a full examination and I didn’t have one for 2… years. The front desk clerks failed to set up an appointment. After several calls the Center on Aging gave me an appointment for 4/22/26 saying that there was no earlier date available. I requested an earlier appointment in the event he had a cancellation and was told that they would contact me. They never did. On 12/31/25, I had an accident in Florida which resulted in a deep gash over my right eye. The cut was closed with six stitches at a hospital and I was told to have my PCP remove the sutures 7-10 days later when I was in NYC. I called Dr. Eiss’s office on 1/2/26 and could not get an appointment with him. They gave me an appointment with another doctor for 1/8/26 who removed the sutures. She appeared to be competent but that is not the point. When you have a PCP you at least want him to take a quick look at the condition and provide advice. At a minimum a two minute video appointment but the WEILL CORNELL SYSTEM DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR THAT AND LIKELY DID NOT INFORM DR. EISS THAT I HAD BEEN INJURED. When the sutures were removed I asked another physician about switching to Dr. Eiss’s Internal Medicine practice because I was told that there I might get an earlier appointment and was given the telephone number which I called. On 2/4/26 I received a nice email from Dr. Eiss via myconnectnyc.org offering to fit me in on 2/19/26 and stating that someone from his office would call me to schedule the appointment. The problem was that I would be out of town for that week and the myconnect email informed me that I could not reply to the email. HIS OFFICE DID NOT CALL ME TO SCHEDULE - I called them multiple times and explained that I would be out of town that week and requested some other date. ON EACH OCCASION I WAS TOLD THE SCHEDULER WOULD CONTACT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE AND THEY WOULD EMAIL THE DOCTOR FOR A REPLY. I NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY OR A DIFFERENT APPOINTMENT DATE. THE WEILL CORNELL SYSTEM BREAKS DOWN BECAUSE OF THE MULTIPLE PARTIES GOING BOTH WAYS. IT IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO AN EFFECTIVE PATIENT - PHYSICIAN RELATIONSHIP. IT DOES NOT DESERVE ANY STARS.

Dr. Eiss is an amazing person and very patient with his patients (even the demanding ones). He has the patience of a Saint. Not only is he a knowledgeable and intelligent man, but he treats you like a real person. When you're with him, it feels as though you're his only patient (and when he has good news, he seems genuinely happy to be able to convey that good news to you). I don't know many doctors who are so personable and have such a bedside manner. He has an innate kindness and concern for his patients (and people in general). I highly recommend him!

Dr. Eiss is an outstanding personal doctor who takes the time to understand the total health of his patients. I am so glad to have found him.
