Dr. Bruce Vaiden Darden, MD

I went to Dr. Darden today for a second opinion of my spine. He was a good referral to me. The girl that took me in the back and called me from the lobby gave me such a hard time because I wouldn’t commit to another surgeon at Ortho Carolina. I said I was there for a consultation only. She was very unprofessional grilling me of why I didn’t want a referral to orthocarolina surgery. Then I heard her talking to the doctor outside the door about me having a hard time about who I should see next. They made me wait a good 45 minutes in the room. Then the doctor finally comes in and asks if anyone has read my MRI to me.(No) that’s why I came here. I’ve heard good things about you. He disagreed with the diagnosis I had, and recommended something else. I felt rather rushed, as I had many concerns and questions. I’m positive that girl had tainted Dr. Dardens view of my situation because she had an attitude of me right away. I will be calling the office tomorrow to get her full name. I was… treated very unprofessionally by her.

I highly doubt that this physician "screwed up" the commenters back, nor is he "kicking the can down the road" regarding the other commenter. Spine surgery is done primarily for pain in the extremities. If you want your actual back pain to go away, strengthen your core, pay attention to your muscles, and stay in shape. Don't cry to your surgeon because he can't magically fix you when you don't put in the effort. Exercise, lose weight, and don't smoke. As far as the patient with the fusion, he obviously has NO CLUE how risky it is to remove spinal hardware. Go ahead and blame the doctor for not wanting to paralyze. You have a high risk of it if you walk around without anything stabilizing your spine. Good luck. You won't find a better spine surgeon than this guy, I promise you that.

Why is all they show is the good ratings and not the bad. Red flag, I know. He screwed my back up. Don't trust this quack.

He is an experienced Doctor. He gave me back my life. He treated my father and two sisters. His beside manner made me very comfortable. He is the Doctor that I would I allow to do any surgery on me.,

Have had 3 fusions on back in past 17 years Dr. Darden did great but now that I have loose screws on the rods in my back and need the rods removed Darden wants to wait and keep kicking the can down the road! Causes me severe pain and it keeps popping and grabbing when I move, this has been going on 2 years! Time for new goctor!
