Dr. Bryan Bell Barnes, MD

I need back surgery asap I have been in terrible pain for four and half months I had to go back to Dr Barnes just to understand exactly what he was going to do concerning my surgery and still don’t understand exactly what he is going to do.He has no bedside manner I felt no compassion from him. My last visit I asked for something for pain and he said no I will give you something after surgery. I became upset due to months of terrible pain he hands me a tissue and stated i could stay in the room for awhile then he just walked out.i told myself this isn’t the Dr I want to slice my back open. He doesn’t greet you with how are you or even ask about your pain level. I wanted a second opinion and asked for another Dr in the same office and called today and was told there was no information put in about the two Dr’s speaking to one another so I can see the other Dr.The person I talked to said she had never heard anyone not wanting Dr Barnes to be there Dr. I am sure he is a great surgeon but… that isn’t all there is about feeling that you trust and you have any relationship with that Dr. After being humiliated at 70 years old and the Dr not being concerned about my pain level tells me he isn’t the Dr I need to continue with. You can tell if someone genuinely cares about your welfare and after you tell the Dr you need something for pain because I still have to do everything to do with my home etc before surgery because I live alone and I have to do what needs to be done but I won’t be told NO when I ask for help and not even told the reason why.This is the world we live in now and it is sad and after that visit I haven’t been contacted about my surgery or my welfare.

I made an appointment with Dr. Barnes. It was a bit of a wait but I felt it was worth it. The office contacted me and said that Dr. Barnes had an emergency and needed to reschedule. I was okay with that too. My appointment was at 1:40. I completed all my paperwork prior to the visit and arrived on time. At 2:30 I informed reception that I had been waiting for almost an hour. After a couple of phone calls and a trip to the back, I was told that it would be another 15 minutes. When the nurse called me she asked how I was doing. I told her that I was angry and explained the situation. She took my vitals and said Dr. Barnes would be in shortly. At 3:00 I still had not seen Dr. Barnes. It occurred to me that I would not be able to tell him about my back problem because my mind was clouded by stewing in anger. I told the nurse that the doctor- patient relationship would not work out. I understand that doctors get called for emergencies. Every business encounters emergencies. Still in pain.

I first scheduled an appointment back in 2013 for a neck injury due to a car wreck. I met with Mandy the PA for Dr. Barnes and let me tell you she is nothing short of fabulous!!!! I did all the testing that was nessasary and then was given my options. I did a lot of physical therapy and exhausted a lot of other options with some relief before I chose the surgical option I had. If I would have known the outcome of discetomy and fusion of my neck I would have done it sooner. I had instant relief of the pain with no problems and minimal pain following. To date he has done 2 carpal tunnel surgeries on one on each hand and yesterday did a discetomy and nerves decompression on my lower back. Dr. Barnes is an amazing surgeon. He is truly gifted. His staff at his office is also spectacular and great with all your questions and follow up calls. I had my surgeries done at the GNS surgery center in Athens and let my just say that they are also AMAZING! my nurses were great and very accommodating… and although I had to wait a little while because my surgery was the last of the day that was not a problem because he was giving someone else the excellent care and let’s face it you wouldn’t want him to rush and make a mistake just so he could get to you faster. It’s called compassion and professionalism that’s also great traits for a doctor to have. I highly recommend Dr. Barnes and the his staff along with the GNS surgery center. I have always had great experiences with them.

Dr Barnes helped me tremendously. He told me what it would take to make my pain go away. He is a wonderful surgeon and the whole experience could not have been any better given the situation.

Dr. Barnes is the most caring Dr. He shows concern over any issues you may have. Bedside manners count for a lot to me and my husband, who have both used him. He is the best and his PA Mandy is terrific too!

Empathy, warm interaction/bedside manner, plus excellent care = Dr. Barnes. I have never felt safer or more confident in my neurological care. I deeply appreciate the intensity and long training it takes for this specialty, and how he practices the art of medicine with heart. His nurses are fantastic. He is the rare find and a jewel of a physician. I am grateful for his expertise and professional care.

FIND YOU ANOTHER DOCTOR! IF YOU WANT TO WAIT 10-14 DAYS ON YOUR RESULT OF YOUR MRI FILM,AFTER THEY GOT THE RESULTS IN 2 DAYS OR IF YOU WANT TO TALK TO HIS ASST. WHO DOESNT GIVE A CRAP IF YOU ARE HURTING? I HAD SURGERY WITH DR BARNES BUT AFT 9 MONTHS THIS IS WHAT I HAD TO GO THROUGH! TOLD ME TO UP MY MEDS! I CANT FUNCTION IF I DO THAT AND I HAVE TO WORK! THEY DONT CARE SO NOW I AM HAVING TO GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR BECAUSE I AM HAVING ALL KINDS OF LOWER BACK PROBLEMS WORSE THAN BEFORE IHAD SURGERY! GET YOU IN SPEND 5 MINUTES WITH YOU AND OUT YOU GO! WE ARE HUMAN! I WOULD NOT REFER HIM TO ANYONE NOT EVEN TO WORK ON MY PETS!

Dr. Barnes and his staff went above and beyond for me. I met with Dr. Brarnes twice and his staff twice before my surgery. They answered all my questions and made me feel better about my first surgery. The surgery went well and I feel great. I would recommend Dr. Barnes to anyone. Great Doctor

My doctor referred me to Dr Barnes office they even called for me. Visit 6 weeks later, I waited an hour was seen by his assistant,they took xrays, sugesetted physical therapy, setup an appointment for an MRI, given medication. It was a good visit. Very through I will see Dr Barnes when he gets MRI films. His assistant called me with the results spinal stenosis, surgery necessary. Saw Barnes 3 weeks later spent 15 minutes with me and explained the procedure he wanted to performe. Lumbar Lamienectomy & spinal fusion This is a serious operation I am seeking secound opinion.
