Dr. Candice Schaefer

Dr. Candice Schaefer, PhD is a licensed Clinical Psychologist providing dedicated teletherapy to those in 34 states through the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness.Struggling with emotions that control and confine your life? Dr. Schaefer offers counseling for adults in a safe and relaxed atmosphere that helps you explore and understand your emotions, while teaching you practical skills to get a better sense of control. Her clients describe her as warm, down-to-earth, and comforting. Dr. Schaefer has helped numerous people who once thought of themselves as “broken” get to a place where they can believe in themselves and be in the driver's seat with their thoughts and emotions.As a therapist, she uses a variety of tools and techniques to help you in treatment, starting with looking at your own strengths and values that guide you in your everyday life. Dr. Schaefer primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to help her clients with their symptoms, but uses other therapies and modalities as appropriate, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She also works with couples using the Gottman Method and elements of CBT, and especially enjoys working with inter-racial/inter-cultural couples. While she works with individuals of all backgrounds, Dr. Schaefer has extensive experience working with Military Veterans, Corporate Executives, and Tech Industry Employees. She currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor for NYU’s Counseling and Wellness Master’s Degree Program.
