This is my first pregnancy, so I am not sure if it is normal to never be able to see your doctor, but I am at 16 weeks and have had to reschedule all but one of my appointments due to Dr. Cowling not being available. I understand that if there is an emergency or a baby to deliver my monthly visit is not as important, but I am never informed that she will not be there until I have driven to the clinic, been made to wait for 30 minutes, and talked to the nurse, at which point they tell me that the doctor will not be able to see me that day and to reschedule for later in the week. I have a hard enough time canceling everything for one afternoon with several weeks notice, and to have to take off another morning or afternoon in the same week every time I am scheduled to meet with her is getting very frustrating. I am starting to worry that she will not be available later on when I need her there, and that I may be forced to have a stranger deliver my first child. It seems to me like the… clinic itself is at fault, and that the people in charge of scheduling are just not very good at their jobs. Again, I know that things come up, but if the doctor will not be there for some reason it would be nice to receive a phone call as soon as they become aware of that so I don't have to waste all that time just to have the nurse tell me that Dr. Cowling won't be able to see me. I hope that this is not the norm, because so far it has not been a pleasant experience. Dr. Cowling herself is a great doctor, and she always leaves me feeling more at ease every time I actually see her, which makes the scheduling issue even more frustrating. I am not sure if the problem is due to the staff's poor scheduling or her taking on too many patients at one time, but it definitely takes away from what could be a wonderful experience with a talented physician. If you do not work and have nothing better to do with your week than drive back and for to the doctor's office, then this might work for you. If you are busy and expect a professional, courteous staff, then you should probably look elsewhere. Good doctor + terrible staff + raging hormones x (number of appointments) = Brazos Valley Women's Center and a grumpy pregnant lady

Im do not know much about this doctor, but my personal doctor was not available when I was giving birth to my son. Dr. Cowling delivered my son and she was very nice and caring, I am very pleased and will go see her with my next pregnancy!
